• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spyder Diversion

I am in the process of purchasing some company for the RS in the garage. I'm buying a friend's 66 Charger, I've never had a classic car before and I'm anxious for the new challenge (first change will be to add AC, from Classic Car AC). Of course none of this has anything to do with Spyders other than to alert everyone that I will not be purchasing farkles (at least not Spyder farkles) in the immediate future, so you can just quit tempting me with your seats, exhausts, etc. thank you.

:congrats: Up here we'd forget about the A/C, and just roll down the windows and go like he**. If you do make the mod, be sure that it does not damage the original car, and can be removed and returned to OEM should you or a future owner choose to do so. We are the custodians of these historic vehicles, and we need to treat them kindly. Enjoy the ride...old cars are every bit as fun as Spyders.

Problem is riding without AC in summer in LA, is about as practical as riding without heat in winter in Michigan.
Fortunately there's a company that specializes in non-intrusive classic car AC, even uses the factory heater controls to run it. That, and a stereo that looks like the old AM radio, will be the ONLY concessions to modern technology.

Perfect! I don't blame you for the A/C. It is a necessary evil down your way...just like heaters are for us. We have considered one of those stereos for Nancy's Falcon ragtop. They are pretty neat. I know a couple of folks that have them.

It's a 318 Poly, Chrysler produced it from 57 to 66 (it's only year in the Charger), it was based on the hemi design but the poly spherical head was cheaper to produce while retaining most of the performance advantage of the hemi. It's not to be confused with the LA 318, which was standard in 67 and later chargers which had traditional heads (thus still cheaper to produce) but 30 fewer horses.

That's one of the reasons I've always liked the 66, plus it was the only year with the console that extended all the way through the interior, with 4 bucket seats.

We had an earlier version of the Chrysler poly in one of our dragsters for a while. It was a '56 354, as I recall. I eventually converted it to a hemi by swapping the pistons, pushrods, and heads. Interesting engines...in some ways better than their hemispherical brothers.

welcome to the family of "muscle cars"! nothing wrong with them. we've got a 73 tee top corvette and we hardly ever drive it since we got the spyder!nojoke

I had a 68 Charger, Got it in late 67 when i got out of Nam, 440 Wedge. That was some engine, By the time i had to give it up it was pushing 520HP. Those were the days, Have fun with yours, I always like the fast back better.

In 1970 I had a 1970 Challenger, 440 6-pack. I let someone else drive it once and it was totaled. That car could be heard from a long ways off with its hooker headers and mufflers.

Yea, when i put hookers on the charger, All i heard was from the hard core Mopar guys ''Hookers your nuts there for Chevy's'', Nothing's change....... IE, My make of bike it better than yours. :banghead:

I had a hard time choosing between a 2012 Challenger and a 2012 Spyder, The Spyder won out, Wish i had the cash for the Challenger also.
