• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

spyder cover

I'm looking to travel with my spyder on a trailer and wanting to know what kind of cover to use? Will the full cover from brp hold up in the wind? The reason I ask is in this time of the year you have no idea what you can run into, weather wise, and I'd like to keep my:spyder2:as clean as I can.

Don't know about the wind, but the BRP or any cover will scratch your Spyder if it's used while you are trailering it. Yeah, it's minor rubs and can probably be buffed out. The two times I have trailered my Spyder, I left it uncovered.

:agree: Even going a short distance, the frabic will move around. There may be a cover that will work, but I have not een one. Others, (with more knowledge) will chime in to help.

I Agree with Marilyn that would not be a good idea if you did that. The only thing on my BRP cover that protects from scratches is the windshield.

Many years ago [another century] i bought a brand new snowmobile and the dealer threw in a factory fitted cover, within a hundred miles on the trailer it scuffed up the paint, It didn't matter anyway a week latter a big stump jumped out on the trail and totaled it.:opps:

You guys are good, I would much rather clean rather than have to buff things out. Maybe my brain will start to work again. Things really go fast when you get old. Thanks Gary

Reference: towing with a cover

I regularly tow a goldwing on an amerideck hydraulic lift in my Dodge Ram truck behind a 40ft motorhome. I have never had any damage towing this way other than bugs and streaks from rain. I clean it after unloading at a campground and have a half cover to keep the windshield and seats clean so it's ready to ride. I plan on towing my new spyder the same way when I get it later this spring. Hope this helps. Sarge330:rolleyes:

Just an FYI: WOW, thats an awesome looking cob-web design on your wind-shield! ooopps

While Teddy & I were waiting in line for Harvey to install our Heat & Cat shields at last years SpyderFest, I noticed that the RS Spyder in front of us had a tall wind-shield with a really neat looking cob-web design on it. I went up for a closer look & asked how they were able to do it, if it was laser etched or what? I don't recall who the owner was (maybe they'll chime in) but they proceeded to explain to me that what I was thinking was a cool after-market effect, was actually damage  They had trailered the Spyder from their home to Cuba & that they had it covered, but all the wind rubbing the cover on the shield caused hundreds & hundreds of little scratches & rub marbs, making it look almost like cob-webs all over the shield :opps: They were not Happy Campers to say the least:cus: Just thought I'd share this with you so you don't run into a similar situation ;)

Dave, you might be able to get a shrink wrap done on it, like they do on boats. I don't know if I would like that done to my bike or not. Honestly, I'd leave it open faced. That's what it's designed to take. The serious vibration of the covering material will scratch/crosshatch at your tensions point through vibration. You could always add that easy peel off tape that is designed to protect the surfaces from rock hits and other scratches.
