• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Hey Everyone !!!

Has anyone trailered there're Spyder on an open trailer with the Spyder full cover on it ??
I just want to know how the cover faired in the open wind.

It is NOT recommended

At last years SpyderFest, Teddy & I were waiting our turn in line for Harvey of Famed SpyderPops to install our heat-management system. Thats when I noticed the wind-shield of the Spyder in front of us had this crazy neat looking cob-web type of design on it that I had never seen before. When I went for a closer look & to talk with the owner about it, I was told that the neat looking design was in fact, not intentional. They had trailored their Spyder on an open trailer using the BRP full Travel-Cover thinking that was what it was made for. Come to find out, the slight flapping of the cover against the shield at highway speeds over so many hundred miles had caused the shield to be permanantly etched, almost fog/cob-web looking in different parts of the shield.

So just be warned, this could happen. If it were me, using an open trailer, I'd just remove the shield alltogether & stow it away just to be safe. I mean, its only the 2 plastic pcs that slide up & off & then 4 bolts to remove and replace. Not much effort to know its safe & protected & stored away from harms reach.

Get a soft tshirt like a Hanes tag less under shirt XXL and put that on the windscreen first before the cover. I don't trailer my Spyder as I don't have a trailer but I put the tshirt on before I put the travel cover on.

Protects the screen as it soft and can be used as a rag to clean the windscreen, just throw it in the washing machine every now and then

I trailer the Spyder on an open trailer without a cover and it arrives relatively clean and in fine shape. Even if it rains, it won't get any wetter than if I rode it and it actually gets less road grime.

I would not recommend it. The constant rubbing of the cloth on the painted surfaces, as well as the windshield (as Dave already said) cannot do anything but harm to those surfaces.

A better plan, if worried about road debris, would be to mount a shield on the front of the trailer.

I tried that once and it was the last time. The flopping of the wind on the cover will perminently mark your paint and shield. Tralering it uncovered is no worse on it than riding, and without the maring of some of the paint.

I would a put a thick T-shirt over the wind shield and then put on the travel cover and make sure the cover is sinched down tight and the extra material around the windshield I would attach a bungee cord over top the handlebars from side to side to take the slack out of the cover around the windshield. I have used this method when we trailer snowmobiles and it works great with no cover rash:thumbup: The flapping of the cover is what causes cover rash on the body panels and windshield

What a neat and easy idea!

No problems to report

Been haulin' the Spyder for two years and thousands of miles on open trailer. Zero problems with either the custom cover or the Spyder. Bungee around the windshield prevents flapping that might lead to problems. Felt liner protects the windscreen without a secondary layer such as a t-shirt. That said, a friend was hauling his Limited on an open trailer w/o bungee at I-95 speed. Flapping was so severe that grips tore through the cover.:yikes:
