• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

2009 SE5 GS 66k miles

tonight I was driving through town stopped for a bit to visit with my sister then hopped on and went towards home

that's when the issues started selected the se5 to 2nd and she acted like she was sputtering and choking on the command

attempted to return to 1st gear and it wouldn't shift down

turned the throttle and went no ware like I was in neutral

showed 2nd gear on display

shut her down there was no beep beep from lack of parking brakes

the display didn't go dark ?

let sit a couple min started up showed 2nd gear still so I killed it and waited longer time

this time it started allowing me to shift to neutral

got on and started for home and ate around 2500 rpm it was acting badly like the throttle body was opening and closing rapidly not allowing it to accelerate

got it home in 1st gear was only a few blocks from home thankfully

again I cant shift to neutral

killed it let it sit for a few started it up and backed it in the garage

last time it wouldn't accelerate like this I had a oil pressure switch gone bad

this time no warning lights on the display ?

any ideas from the RS GODS

I have no dealer with in 160 miles so that's out of the question I do my own work

Stumped this time

HELP

Could be a number of things. I'd start by checking the oil level. But now that you've let it sit, it will no doubt show a low level. Still, bringing it up to 1/4" below the full mark and trying that (if it does show low), would at least eliminate that as the issue.

Agree..!!

:agree: Start with oil, when you say you let it rest, do you pull the key..?? Let the computer reset. Sounds like it may have gone into limp mode and should be able to pull up some codes that will help find the problem. There is a free app (spyder codes for android and my spyder for apple) that shows how to get the codes and what to do....

I had the same problem and SPYD3R had the same problem. It was the shifter switch on the left side of the handle bars that you use to up shift and down shift. The unit cost around $165.00 and easy to install. My Spyder is a 2011 RS-S SE5 and Dan's(aka SPYD3R) Spyder is a 2009 RS SE5, and other Spyders had the same problem.

I am having the same problems with my 2009 GS SE5 with 22,000 miles.

Once it stuck in 5th gear and lost power. Shut it off and waited. Next it stuck in 2nd gear but still accelerated. Next it was 3rd gear and lost power. And so on.

Each time I was not able to downshift and it idled around 1500-2000 rpms.

Checked oil... too low. Changed oil. Filled it up. Too much oil. Let some out. Perfect amount of oil... each time thought it was solved, ...still problems.

Take it to the shop. They find after the oil change that two of the screws were in wrong so the switched them, oil change (again), clean motor, etc.

Less than ten miles later... stuck in third. Ride back to shop stuck in 3rd and bucking if I went over 27 miles an hour.

Now what??? No one knows what this problem is but everyone is having it???

If anyone knows what the problem is please post or email!!! dcedar is my user name on yahoo as well.

THANKS!!!!
