Spyder a little jumpy on highway

Just got to ride my Spyder this weekend. On the highway it feels a little jumpy like it wants to dart left or right with irregularities in the pavement. I noticed that the front shocks are in the middle position. Will this improve if I stiffen the front or loosen the front preload, or will it make any difference at all? The alignment seems ok it does not pull when I let go of the bars. I have 4" riser on it.

Loosen your death grip on the bars. Relax... Death grip = jumpy roadster.

I agree on the "relax" advise. The middle setting on all three shocks is fine until you get more experience. Hows the tire air pressure?

Thank for reminding me I had not checked the air pressure yet. I have a very good racing gauge I used on my race car and kept meaning to pull in out. When I checked he (the guy I traded to get the Spider) had 32 lbs all round. I dropped the front to 17 and the back to 26 I will see if that helps. I really don't do the death grip much. I have a drag cruse control on it and have even taken my hands off. That is how I checked the pull for alignment. Of course here in Kansas we have wind. I still think the chassis rock is doing some of it.

The Spyder can really catch a lot of air - very different than a 2 wheeler. You'll get used to how it handles. I would find a nice smooth stretch on a not-so windy day and see if the Spdyer still does it - could have an alignment problem.

Have fun!

The three wheels may be hitting the gullies made by the 18-wheelers on the highway. There are two spots on I95 North in CT from Stamford to Milford where the :spyder: drifts quite a bit. I soiled myself the first time I experienced it :joke: Relax (like others have already mentioned) and get comfortable with the movement, it's not as dramatic as you first think ;)

Not so windy day! Are you kidding I live in Kansas. OK so we do have some days when the wind drops below 20 MPH.

That stinks.........:yikes::D

Badger you hit the nail on the head, I just drove out to Goddard about 5 miles west on 400 and the Spyder tracked perfect rode better to. It also feels more positive on 90 degree left and right hand turns something just did not feel right before. Of course you still have chassis lean and have to use body English, but it turns much more predictable. Like I put a new suspension under it. I don't know what that he was trying to do with the air pressures up that high. Thanks
