I have a 2017 F-3T with just over 27,000 mile's. It has a Dynojet PV3 tune and a Pedal Commander, I hit it hard just about all the time. So it passed inspection today at the dealer

HEY MIKE, No spanking from the dealer on the power add on's
I would say that in my case that "THE RED DUST OF DEATH" is a myth.

Dealer said that of the 30 Spyder's tested so far only 2 failed.

I'm glad they didn't catch the Power-Adders. .... If you show up at a Car dealership looking for Warranty work on ANY part of the Drive train and they see a BLOWER sticking thru the hood. I doubt the warranty will be honored ....just sayin ..... Mike :thumbup:

This is not Warranty Work - it's Recall Work - different subject entirely.

2019 RTL with 24,500km

Inspection two days ago, everything within specs. Now waiting for replacement parts expected somewhere around the end of August according to the dealer.

I agree with Mike. I'm not sure how that thing passed. Even if they didn't clean the sprocket off there would be hand prints from them checking the pulley for slop after removing the bolt (even though it looks untouched as well). But clearly no one has ever touched that pulley in some time. Other maybe than to have swiped at it where that dust is gone in what you call black shiny painted surface. Of course I could be seeing it all wrong.

To the OP, was that picture after the preliminary recall was done?
Clearly no fingerprints on the sprocket and no witness marks on the bolt. It doesn’t look like it was touched.

2018 RTL with 34,000km on it... mine tested within specs, dealer doubts they will have the final parts available until fall sometime, put on recall list for when they come in. Only downside is nearest dealer is a three hour ride from my house... only good thing is the dealer is a three hour ride from my house :)

2015 RTL with 6000 miles on it (yes I know that's sad but that's another story) - passed inspection today. Told to get it rechecked in 10K miles.

Mine looked like that years ago too and the dealership said that despite the red dust, because I had so many miles on it, mine must be one of the lucky ones... then it exploded at about 55,000 miles. I'd say it's just a matter of time for yours. Hopefully it won't happen before you get the recall work done on it.

one question.... what does the Red Dust come off of, the sprocket, or the Shaft the Sprocket slides upon???
