• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Being a member of the GWRRA, there are discounts to be had with them on hotel/motels. There are several places to stay just North of the interstate of the host hotel that are part of the Wyndham Hotels and Motel 6 where I get discounts. Super 8, Microtel and Days Inn.

I have my reservations in at the Microtel for a bit more than what it would cost to camp at the KOA across town where I stayed last year. Less than $200 total for four nights! I'm saving about $5 per night over the regular rate.

See ya there!

Correct there are several several hotels this location, all very very close, we are working with Hampton in the am to secure more lodging and a few others.

lamplighter, candle wood, and Hampton inn, all 3 share a parking lot, next to Hampton is holiday inn, directly across the street is durray inn, and comfort inn, along with several others.
Tomorrow in the am we will have a list of hotels that are giving spyderfest rates. Trying to keep everyone together is our main goal. If you've never been to a fest, the most fun is hanging out at night in all the hotels. You might save a few bucks scouting out your own off site hotel, but you'll be missing out on one of the most fun times.
Doing our best to make it happen ASAP

Cavman--the folks at koa tell me they are only 8 or 10 miles from the fairgrounds , are they right ? i'm taking the toy hauler and it doesn't seem to be many campgrounds in the area. is the koa well taken care of ? thanks looking forward to our first fest

Days Inn

Is located just on the other side of I-44, less than 2 minutes away...less than $50/nite.

If you mapquest it and zero in real close you will notice that the railroad runs ALONGSIDE the camp and from what I understand it's a busy line . You had better be a sound sleeper ... .........Some people here did use it last year maybe they will chime in and give a FIRST HAND report......MIKE

ANOTHER OPTION ? ? ?

Len, according to the Fairgrounds site they have RV hook-ups and camping ......could some kind local person get the SCOOP on this .....   Mike

I made reservations at the KOA for one of their premiere sites. It is the farthest from the tracks and with a well insulated toyhauler I don't think the trains will be a problem. I looked at the sites offered by the fairgrounds, but am not sure if they are for rent by antendees. Figured the vendors and others would using them. At the rate accommodations are being snapped up I figured it best to get something secured while I could.

Sent from the corner of walk and don't walk....

Frenchek, that may be about right if there is no traffic? The host hotels are East of the fair grounds about a mile or so?
We had a lot of Spyders staying at the KOA last year and it was entertaining with the weather.
Since learning about some of the GWRRA's benefits, I decided to try for an inexpensive hotel instead of sleeping in the back of my truck next year. It cost about the same and I will be closer to the events and places to eat.

I like trains and can sleep thru just about anything. There lots of trains going thru there every day.....like a dozen+. Toot, toot!
If you are in some sort of RV you will better off than the back of a truck or flooded tent.

Great info..!!

keep it coming...this will be a hot topic from now on till the last roadster makes it home safe...let the plans be laid and the time till then fly...!!:yes::yes:

image.jpgThe red pin is the host hotel. The purple pin is the location of the KOA.
Hope this helps out?
