• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spray the engine off?

Anyone ever spray the engine off? My valve covers were leaking and now that is fixed the engine is an oily dirty mess. There is only so much I can wipe off..

Paranoid me would really seal off everything and anything else besides engine before spraying. Forced sprayed Water in the wrong place can really wreck havoc.

Like others have said, degreaser and wash it off with water. Everything in and around the engine is suppose to be watertight. So I would not be concerned about a little water. Within reason of course, a pressure sprayer with a rotary nozzle is certainly not a good idea. If it so happens that some part of your Spyder is not watertight. I think it would be better to find out in your driveway rather than beside the road hundreds of miles from home.

Don't the wires wet, the connectors wet, the sensors wet, the fuse boxes wet, or any computers modules wet. I wrap these things with plastic food wrap. Don't wash a hot or very warm engine or dry it with a hair dryer. That's IMHO.

Rinsing the motor is no different than riding in the rain. Don't drown it, and you should be fine.
I spray all my vehicle motors down at the beginning of every season. Wet, spray down with simple green, let sit 5-10 min, rinse off. I do use my air compressor to blow off the leftover standing water.
Been doing it this way for YEARS with no issues.

I take that back....we did have an issue several years ago with my kids VW Cabrio. After the cleaning it wouldn't start. Come to find out the coil was leaking and the moisture was grounding it out (common faulty coils on that car). Wd-40 on the coil and it finally started. Replaced the faulty coil.
So that hose down might have actually saved my kid a non-local breakdown finding a failing part.
