• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spirit Bell

This is a question for all of those who have been riding motorcycles (more specifically Harley Davidsons) for awhile. My mom happen to read about the Spirit Bell one day and decided to buy me one for Christmas. I am wondering if any of you have attached one to your :spyder: and where? :dontknow:
Started looking over the :spyder: and can't really find a place where I won't be scratching the paint.

HI, from memory over the past year, I seem to recall the favourite place was on the parking brahe lever at the rear caliper. Low and little to harm.
Merry Christmas from the UK.

I have one attached to the brace by the brake pedal - wife gave me one in September. Attached it with 2 wire ties.

Bell, Evil Spirits ??

This is what they say about the bell!

LEGEND HAS IT THAT THE EVIL SPIRITS HAVE BEEN LATCHING THEMSELFS TO MOTORCYCLES FOR AS LONG AS THERE HAVE BEEN BIKES ON THE ROAD. THESE EVIL SPIRITS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MECHANICAL PROBLEMS AND BAD LUCK ALONG A JOURNEY.

LEGEND GOES ON TO SAY THAT BY ATTACHING A SMALL BELL ONTO YOUR BIKE, THE EVIL SPIRITS WILL BECOME TRAPPED INSIDE THE BELL WHERE CONSTANT RINGING DRIVES THEM INSANE MAKING THEM LOSE THEIR GRIP UNTILL THEY FALL TO THE GROUND.

Sounds good to me, I have one on mine :spyder:

And when the evil spirits fall off, it causes what we call "potholes" in the road. I have one on my M109 and my buddy has one on his Vulcan. We are putting one on the Spyder but just forgot. We were on a ride one day and thought about it but we have still forgot....doh!

Never had evil spirits fall off my old Brit bikes...just lots of parts. It would take a big bell to trap all those Limey spirits! Ho ho ho.

We have Spirit bells (also called Gremlin bells) on all our bikes, including my Spyder. Any Harley dealer usually has a wide array of these bells with many different designs to choose from. They're usually about $10 and come in a little pouch with the story of the bell. Mine is silver with hearts on it.

We recently bought one for a friend, a retired policeman, and it has police things on it -- guns, badges, handcuffs, etc. He loved it!

They also have them for all the branches of the service, and the usual skulls, snakes, dragons, devils, etc. Something for everyone!

A cute trinket and a conversation piece!

I got mine Guardian Bell at Rude Dog Leather for $9.95 which included shipping. I ordered the black widow spider web design. Their site currently shows that model is not available.

Uh-oh.....the Spirit Bell has to be given to you by someone else. Suggestion: for those who bought their own, "swap" with another who bought their own.

I have mine attached to one of the cables by the right handgrip. I like to see it everytime I start her.

+1, the most important part about this legend is the bell is supposed to be given to you for it to be affective.

My mom bought mine from there. It is the black with the Marine Corps emblem inlaid in gold. I like it. She bought the little mounting piece also, so i have that attached to the bottom rear panel screw just above the passenger foot rest. Then attached the bell to that. It sticks out just far enough not to hit the paint, yet won't get kicked by anybody riding with me.

Everyone needs to realize, these are supposed to be given my a friend or relative. It not only shows they care and wish you safety, but it also is a "little more protection" from the "demons" because it tells them you are loved..

Mine was given to me by a friend.

I hang it from the reverse lever on my Spyder. I also move it (when I remember) to whatever bike I'm about to ride. My antique British bikes have so many levers on the handlebar that there is no problem finding a place to hang it on those. :)

easy just find someplace under the bike and tie them on no need to see them as long as you know they are there they r good luck and not just for harleys:doorag::doorag:

I attached mine to the lower A-arm with a jubilee clip. The plastic shroud hides the clip and the bell is visible from the front.
