• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. SPARE TIRE PLACEMENT ON TRAILER

Looking for information on where the spare tire is mounted on the RT-622 Trailer.

Any pictures would be appreciated.

I didn't think there was a spare tire. ???
For those who ordered the Premiere Edition, my dealer said a spare would be included. I don't know if this was a limited offer, or was for all PEs. For the rest, a matching spare can be purchased from BRP. I don't think there is a mounting location. That is actually a good thing, since you can move the spare location in the box to adjust the trailer tongue weight. They do not appear to offer a cover for the spare, so you may wish to purchase one or make one. A spare inside with the cargo can get things dirty, cargo can scratch the wheel, and small stuff disappears into the holes in the spare wheel forever, never to be seen again (until you have to change a tire). :D

I never got a spare tire with my trailer. I ordered mine in Sept. Maybe it was a different time offer. Would be nice to have one though.

Reguarding the Spare Tire & Wheel

I did Not buy the limited edition.

I bought a Blue RT-SE5 with the RT-622.

My dealer said that BRP gave every dealer, (it did not matter if it was a limited edition or not) 4 ea free spare rim & tire to every dealer.

My dealer gave me one of the spare wheel & tire free, I was #3 buyer of an RT.

I'll bet most dealers are keeping the spare rim & tires and selling them.

My suggestion is to hit up your dealer, ask them how many they have sold if it is less than 4ea. let them know that you know, see if they will give it to you.

My dealer said there is a place in thr trailer that the spare fits, that doesn't take any extra room.

Hope this info helps someone.

Just picked up my Spyder RT-S PE #108 with Trailer on Sat 06 Feb. no spare was included in the sale. I asked, and they said it had to be ordered. After looking at the Trailer decided not to order. You are correct there is no place to mount it. :2thumbs:

Will it fit into the traler, yes.

But, if he can tell me how some thing 20 inches in diameter and almost 5 inches thick does not take any room up inside my trailer, I'd love to see his magic trick?

There is not "special place" inside our trailer for the spare to go other than subtract from the cargo area it sits in.

We are working on an exterior mount for our spare, as I don't want to loose cargo area for the spare.

Thanks for the feedback

When we saw the Trailer the first time we also were concerned about losing cargo space. We stopped at the Dealer this week to discuss how to carry the spare. He suggested looking at a mount for the outside of the trailer.

We just finished ordering some additional accessories for our new RT from you and if you can come up with a mounting system would sure appreciate the feedback as soon as it is available.

I will shoot my Dealer a note and let him know you are looking into a solution.

  • We stopped by the Dealer this week to take a look at our Trailer and the Spare Tire was a concern right away.

We did not want to give up the interior cargo storage and the Parts Manager suggested an exterior mount to solve the problem. He just took delivery on some other accessories ordered from you to be installed on the RT (Mud Flap Light, Fender Tips, and the Taillight Modulator).

Will shoot him a note and let him know the mount is in the works. Would appreciate a post as soon as available. Pic's would be great as well.

The BRP trailer is big for a motorcycle cargo trailer, and the weight capacity is pretty limited. Not sure why you worry. I know Patti isn't taking her entire closet on those trips, so it must be all your XXXL T-shirts taking up all that space.....LOL!

Roaddog has a Trekker Trailer that has a vertical mount just forward of the axle, underneath the lid pivots.....

That darned thing is as clean as his garage! :joke:

Seriously, I like the idea. Separates the front and rear sections, but still lets long thing items like tent poles to go all the way forward. Mounted where it is won't affect the trailer tongue weight as much as laying in the front, either. Best of all, mounted inside it doesn't affect the trailer's sleek appearance or the aerodynamics.

Actually, I borrowed those pics from the Trekker website. But rest assured, Roaddog's trailer is as clean as his garage....:D Unlike my garage......:yikes:
We won't even think about mine! I have to go outside just to turn around. :roflblack:

FYI, I measured the RT-622 trailer today, and a spare tire would fit upright, under the divider between the front and rear doors (if you fabricated a bracket), or attached vertically to the inside of one wheelwell.
