• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spare Key

I've been to Lowes, Home Depot, and every Locksmith in my area trying to get a blank key cut for a spare key. All I want to do is be able to unlock the trunk and the trailer. Every place said "no such luck". We can't do it.

Surely there is some place (other than my dealership to the tune of $50.00) that can make a spare key?

Chris

There have been others who have had NON-chip keys made and the key blank # has been posted a couple times. Hang in there--they will come.

ILCOS X270 is the blank you need
I have bag of blanks somewhere, PM me and I will send you one when I locate them.

Seen them on eBay. Only good for opening trunks not starting. If you want one to start bike you need to go to dealer....$78.

Ilco's X270 is the one that you want! You can start the bike with this "dumb" key if you hold the BRP key right next to it while cranking the bike over... (I had to try it for fun! ;))

Bob, you're gonna have to get those glasses checked.....or slim down those fingers. :roflblack: Did you get a new keyboard?

Chris, next time you are in court in Titusville stop by A-1 locksmith, he made mine for $5.00. It is just a couple of blocks from the courthouse. Or if you want just come over for lunch, I will meet you over here.

'Kay! I just want to post a US company who can supply just the blanks.
These are the basic key with no chips, so you can't star the engine with one.
But if you need to get into the Frunk quickly and leave the motor running, you can!

for $3.99

Suprising how many bikes use this key!! HTH
If you need to get into the trunk with the motor running, and do not have electric release, simply push down on the key and then turn it, as always. The engine will stay running as long as you push the key down first.

Ooops! Silly me!! Being keen to help people out I (being a complete novice around Spyder things)
totally failed to take that into consideration! My apologies...only excuse is that it's almost 2am
here and I'm getting sleepy!
Still....$3.99 sounds a whole lot better than $50.00!!!

Lots of people carry a non-chipped spare. Handy to get you into the rear cargo space if the engine is running, and very handy if you accidentally lock your chipped key into a cargo hold. I just wanted folks to know they could open the front trunk with the key if the engine was running. It's not obvious.

Speaking of keys... Can anyone provide a link with instructions to swapping out the key barrel off the trailer lock? I need to replace it from my old Spyder to the new one and I don't want to pay the dealer for it! I know it is tricky, but I think I can do it... Thanks!

Thanks to all

My thanks to all that responded, and the generous offer extended. I tendered the above key code to my locksmith and they are ordering as I type.

Again, thanks so much. I apologize for asking the question when the code apparently had been mentioned in a previous thread.
