• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Spare gas?

:agree: if you need to carry spare gas..But I always make sure my tank is full to 1/2 full on trips..JMO

Remember also that gas looses it's potential after 90 days of storage on a declining scale. So the moral here is to dump it in your tank every 90+ days and refill with fresh gas. Nuff said!

STABIL for longer term storage but I am sure most would use the gas in that little PORTA TANK much sooner.. Over and out!:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

A subject that comes up from time to time.

I do not currently and never have carried extra gas. Came close to running on fumes a couple times but that was within five miles of my gas station near home.

When I am on the road, I fill where I see it. Usually, that means the tank never goes below half full. I have had a couple hundred mile between gas station incidents, but in 125,000 spyder miles, I would say that is not a frequent thing.

My fear has been containers leaking, or worse yet, exploding in the event of an impact collision.

Some "safer" versions of gas cans have been mentioned above. If you going to "carry," then please be as safe as possible. Heed the warning about old gas also.

Planning ahead for fuel ups is always good

I first looked at the Spyder back in 2009.....one of my big concerns back then was the small amt of fuel it carried vs. it's low miles per gallon. Purchased now in 2015 and it is not any better. I would think this is one area that BRP needs to improve on............ more fuel capacity (especially for a bike designed for touring). :spyder2:
