• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Southern Ride Advice.

I’m trying to put together a summer ride starting in Nashville Tennessee and following the Natchez Trace down through Mississippi for later this summer. This part looks pretty cut and dry other than if you know of any hidden gems (restaurants or must see) along the way that we should checkout please pass it along. Then comes the unknown do we head back east across Louisiana to the gulf coast (never been there) and then work our way back through Alabama and Georgia? My objective is to avoided the interstates as much as possible and stick with more "bike friendly" roads and still take in as many of the local “must see” attractions along the way. My other option looks like I could head west across the Mississippi river say around Baton Rouge and ride back through Louisiana and Arkansan, once again I have never spent any time in either of these states and any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ed

Trip planning southern and elsewhere

I like to plan trips for the :f_spider: and what I do is use Google Maps. You can pick a starting point and an ending point. Click "Get directions" and look at the route proposed. You have options, like avoid highways, and avoid tolls :yikes: by checking one or both of these options, the program will pick alternate routes. Sometimes you get two or three possible routes . You can play with them and adjust for gas stops and such. It can take some time, but I planned a 6,000 trip in one evening.

The Natchez Trace is a beautiful ryde. There are websites that will give you all the information about this historic road.

There are no signs for food/gas/hotels. Make sure your tank is full before starting down. There are gas stations close by in Carrolton, Tupelo, Euphor and Jackson. To find a hotel, watch for the blue "H" hospital signs. There will be accommodations there. I stayed in Tupelo and Jackson.

Some of the historic sites don't say how far it is to get there. The Emerald Mound in particular, is quite a ways away and if you're not carrying extra gas, pass it up.

There are so many historical sites just off the road. Great picnic areas and camping sites too.

Enjoy your road trip!

Make sure you start with breakfast at the loveless cafe near the start in Nashville. Greatest biscuits ever. Let me know when you go. I live in the area and would love to ride at least part of the way with you.

Natchez Trace...

I'm going to SpyderFest and will be in Nashville for a few days before, since my daughter lives there. I too am planning riding NT at least as fasr as Tupelow. Looks neat!
