• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sorry Another CHAD Question

Since it appears from all the pictures that the CHAD does not sit flush with the top of the console like the Calsci and the BRP windshields and actually sits above it slightly, just how far above the console does it sit and how much wind/rain do you get coming into the rider area from under the windscreen.

I am in need of a new windshield and may not go with the BRP Ultra and instead go with the CHAD. Now if I could just combine the adjustability of the CHAD with the shape of the BRP Ultra.........perhaps a future mod !!

I have the Chad. Rode in the rain once.... Protected my upper body very well.

It does sit off the bike on the brackets by about 1.25" if that... can't go out and measure it at the moment.... I think that helps keep some airflow coming at you for those really hot days.

Overall... excellent shield, and it really does look nice on the Spyder and has really changed the wind buffeting for the better. Much less noise... And I have my GPS mounted to the brackets like other spyder owners have done with the CHAD.

It is about 2" at its closest point, probably a tiny bit more if it is not tilted at all. The shape differs from that of the cowl, so other areas are slightly farther. As to air behind it, any that is there flows real smoothly, and straight up the windshield. I can feel no strong stream. and no turbulence at all. This shield gets far fewer bugs and crud stuck to the back than the stock shield...less than on any motorcycle I have owned except those with big Vetter fairings (no ventilation). Far better than my BMW RT in that department. That indicates to me that there is little airflow behind it, or that it is very parallel with the shield. Very dry in the rain, too, although I have not experienced a downpour. It won't negate the need for a faceshield and a rainsuit, however. You can't hide behind it. :D

I agree with Scotty about the CHAD regarding bugs. I get a kick out of watching a really big juicy sucker coming towards me and then getting caught in the windstream of the CHAD and whoooshing right up and over my head!!! More often than not the bugs do get deflected rather than bashing right into the shield.

The only weird thing I've noticed with the CHAD is every once in a while it must shift ever so slightly and the harmonics of the wind passing over it changes pitch. I even pulled over once because I thought for sure I'd left my parking brake on or something. But it was just wind. You can absolutely go nuts trying to analyze the harmonic pitch changes of wind sounds. But this is a small matter. I just love the CHAD!!

Air coming in behind the screen is not felt by the rider. It protects so well that I have quit using it in Florida summers. I get too hot with no breeze. The CHAD has become my 3 season shield unless my wife is on the back.

I don't feel much air coming up from under it. And yep - NO BUGS to deal with and I have actually ridden in the rain w/out a face shield - just my short helmet and glasses. Yeah I get wet but less if I'm moving at a good clip. More if I'm stuck behind someone going slow who doesn't know how to drive or stuck at a light in the rain.
