Sooooo... Wife Drove the RT-S today for the first time

My wife has never driven a Motorcycle on the road until today.hyea:opcorn:

Remember of course she was the one that said we are getting a Spyder, and like any good husband I listened to that.

Well we have had a few mechanical issues allowing her an excuse to not drive. Well yesterday we signed up for a three day training course designed for trikes specifically (WA State has one endorsement for Motorcycles and one for Trikes, not one for both) And with that non-refundable $500 out the window... She needed to get behind the handle!!

So as we had been out for a drive this afternoon, without warning I pulled into a parking lot and said... Here you go... :roflblack:

She was trying hard to wipe that smile off her face. :clap::yes: Anyway, gave her some tips, a few "dry run scenarios" for those you never know moments... And away she went... A little tipsi at first... Then the gears started to go up a few notches!! :thumbup::bowdown:

She said now what. I said... See that road. Follow it... So she drove for about an hour. The smile on her face is all the payment I need. I think that smile will be there for quite a while! We have a longer trip plotted out for tomorrow, so I hope she will want more seat time :thumbup:

Before I forget.... Um... I am waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to big for the passenger seat. @ 6'2" and 225 ish... Not for me on long rydes :lecturef_smilie:. This just means I have already started the conversation about getting that beautiful Pearl White RS :roflblack::spyder:Or better yet... The next step in Spyders.. An RR... (Race Ready):firstplace:

Monster maker

I'm sure you just created a monster! 10 or 11 years ago my wife decided she wanted to take an ERC beginner so she could see what "the rider goes through". As you know the rider never goes through anything less than bliss when they throw a leg over... so there was the creation of my 110 pound monster. Three weeks ago she picked up her sixth bike since then,:shemademe_smilie: a brand new RT-S. When we picked it up she said she wanted to take it to a parking lot to get the feel of it. She didn't want me to ride to the parking lot and by the time she found a lot she had the feel of it. She did let me drive the 1.4 miles back to dealer and that was the last time I rode it. However it is okay for me to back it out of the garage for a wash and polish!

:congrats:. It sounds like it was worth it to "hang in there" and see the problems through. The smile on the wifes face should validate your decision not to give up on the:spyder2:.

That is almost the same as how we became a 2 Spyder family. In SC you don't need a motorcycle endorsement, so my wife asked if she could try ryding mine once. It being an SE5 made things a little too easy for her, and the next thing I know people are telling me they saw my Spyder in the next town over while I was at work. Since we have a small son, and cannot ryde 3 up on the Spyder, I ended up buying her one the following month.

Life has changed quite a bit since then, and I am very glad to have found the Spyder. :thumbup:

We Took our trip yesterday... Small one, but she drove again hyea:

I thought I had set our HD camera to have a video today. But I failed. It took four pictures of me and that was it :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

We took a long trip along the Seattle side of Puget Sound. It was cloudy and drissled off and on. But the scenery was to powerful for us to care :2thumbs: Lots of 30mph speed limit driving. Man we can see a lot at that speed opcorn:

Its so great when a couple can ryde together on their own bykes. It adds a new dimension to the relationship.
