• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Soon to be Newbie Spyder Ryder

I live in the NYC area. Within a couple of weeks I will be taking delivery of a 2014 Can-Am Spyder RT-S SE6. Several years ago I test drove an RT in the hills of PA and enjoyed it and recently traded in a Victory Vision to get this one. Several questions for those that wish to chime in.

a) Interested in finding local Spyder riding groups to trade notes. I'll be searching this site for clues but any direct shout outs appreciated.

b) I'll be keeping it in a storage space without electricity access. Manual says charge battery if used less than once a month. I plan to ride every two to three weeks at very least year round. Any issue with that? Side note - easy to remove battery and trickle charge at home if necessary and if we have another winter like last year?

c) I have heard break in periods between 600 miles and 3,000 miles, preference?

d) I enjoy long trips and plan to take a 2 week trip in October. I must get to that 3,000 marker before then. Best source for national Can-Am service network?

e) Eyeing partial travel cover for long trip. Can this be applied while still warm and has anyone experienced issues with people wanting to set upon a three wheeled vehicle they would never consider for a two wheel?

f) Have a ST-1 helmet and Scala Rider Blue Tooth that I have yet to work on. I note it has a corded option. Does the 2014+ have a jack for headphone plug in instead of Blue Tooth or is the entire world cordless today? I'll want to integrate iPod, GPS and likely iPhone use.

Sorry for the long list of questions and appreciate any input. I promise to be of help to new users once I become more experienced.

Many Thanks...
Spyder Walter

Welcome..!! Welcome..!!

Your in the right place for all your questions. Congrats on the new ryde...let's see
A. Home page upper left ryding groups and clubs as well as membership can help you.
B. If you are going to be ryding as you say you should be alright but if you have doubts take it home and keep it on a tender.
C. On your model the first service is at 3,000 miles.
D. Many here can refer you or check brp dealer list.
E. 1/2 covers can be put on at any time, full cover as well if they have heat shield but best after cool down.
F. The scala rider I am not that familiar with. The G9 does it all and then some. You can add up to 8 ryder for group rydes.

Hope your on the road soon this is the time....:2thumbs:

Another opinion: do your first oil change whenever you want but BRP calls for the first one at 3,000 miles. There is a very good magnetic plug on the clutch cover that will collect manufacturing/assembly shavings. Both it and the oil sump plug are pulled when draining the oil. The company does know what it's doing regarding the 1330 engine.
