• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Soon to be new spyder owner!

Well, I got my spyder today! After 150 miles on my first day I'm completely in love with this machine. I'm about to hurry up and go to sleep so I can wake up in the morning and get back on it.

A few things I noticed on my first day: The Spyder is definitely an attention grabber. I stopped twice at gas stations to fill up and take a break. At both gas stations I felt like I was swarmed by people asking me questions left and right. The second time, as soon as I got off and was in the middle of taking my helmet off I had 4 people walk up to me. I was overwhelmed, but excited to answer all the questions I could.

I would say, that is the most fun I've had in a while. Here's too many more fun rides!!! :doorag:

:congrats::clap::2thumbs::welcome:

Lucky dog, rained all day here me and the boy lookin out the window we wanted to ryde today, maybe tomorrow. The questions and attention are a lot of fun--till you are in a hurry to get home from a ryde that has taken about 24hrs longer than it should have:roflblack::roflblack:I only let that happen once. Went out for a short evening ryde came home 15 hrs later 850miles with a lot of stops, it was a lot of fun being spontaneous but not worth the:chill::gaah::lecturef_smilie:when I got home:roflblack::roflblack:

Just a little advise

:welcome: and :congrats: on your new ryde. You have found the best website for all things :spyder2:. All good advice above--spend some time reading the threads while your waiting and you will find a great wealth of information--just like your looking for. Overcontrol is the big issue and it has been addressed. Keep the site posted on your adventures.

:welcome: :congrats: :agree: Best advice I got on riding the :spyder2: was to

relax my grip. It's really true! Works wonders. Have fun riding. Riding the

Spyder is a blast!!! :2thumbs:

:congrats: on picking up your new :spyder2: and by your post, I doubt the :spyder2: will be collecting dust like your Sportster did. :clap:It never gets old and each ryde is an adventure like the first one.

:welcome:

I'll tell you about my first ever experience on a Spyder back in September of 2007 on a prototype before they officially released. I tried to counter-steer it and headed straight for the other side of the road! :yikes: I did this even after being told several times by the guys at the dealership not to. I did this even after signing a waiver that I understood that it does NOT steer like a 2 wheeler.

I did it anyway.

So, (and I can't stress it enough) do not ever under any circumstances expect to press left, lean left, go left, it will NOT happen. If you press left you will simply go RIGHT and vice versa.

Spyder steering is nearly as effortless as on a 2 wheeler but it is direct steering, steer left go left, steer right go right. Once you feel it move underneath you, once you know how it responds to you you'll be just fine. You may have a short learning curve ahead of you but very soon it'll be like "oh, okay, I got this"! :2thumbs:

Good luck!

Day 2 on the Spyder and it was a whole new adventure for me. I was feeling ALOT more comfortable going into turns, and the machine ran through them so smoothly. It didn't feel natural at first, but after I got comfortable and confident that the Spyder could handle it I was having so much fun on the country roads that I live on.

I'm having so much fun and loving it so much, that even while my family and I were out on the boat today all I could think about was getting back home and riding some more.

Also, I'm curious if there are any Spyder riders on here along the gulfcoast of Mississppi or Alabama?

Congratulations on the new Spyder:2thumbs:. Please post some photos for us!

My first ride experience last weekend was much like yours with people asking questions at every stop. I "knew" that would happen from reading stories from other Spyder riders, but just couldn't believe it when it kept happening over and over. Enjoy and welcome!

Over and over for close to 2 years now. :D I am not sure if the questions, and extra long gas stops, will ever stop coming. Good thing I really don't mind talking to people and answering all of them, and I am usually with other motorcyclists that will yell at me and say we need to get going. :roflblack:

I just tried uploading my first pic of me on my spyder, not sure if it worked yet. I'm sad now though. I work offshore and haven't been able to ride for 4 days now .
