• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Something to try for Sewing by hand

Sadly Passed Oct 2024 - RIP
Well my new ski boots didn't come with Power Strap for the boot top, this makes it a bit difficult for the normal buckles to be started. I only have one so it's even harder..... The Power Strap has Velcro on it and you use it to cinch the top closed - then use the buckle or buckles to finish the tightening process. My boots have an OEM - Slit at the top in the center of the boot. So I made a sheet metal clip that would fit in there and glued & pop riveted a woven nylon strap to it...… Then cam the sewing part, using med. thread it was tedious, the thread spirals while you are sewing and then doesn't flow smoothly thru the fabric. I then rememebered I had some monofilament fishing line ( 10 lb.test which way more than the thread ) ….. I threaded the needle the first try because the line was it thin only .012 in dia., and it's very stiff compared to thread..... I only used one strand for the sewing. and it was soooooooooooo much easier - the line is very smooth so there is almost no drag, doubling it was didn't make it much different ….. The end result is …. THE DARN THING WORKS …… I found you really can't get a knot to hold, it's very slippery in that respect..... but if you melt the end , it will hold in the fabric as long as you pull it hard ….. but you don't need to that because it just has to stay until you make a few stitches ……. Bachelorhood isn't bad at all …….. going Skiing tomorrow :yes::yes:...…… Mike

Hi Mike,
You may want to consider giving that power strap a little tightening after all the buckles on the boot are where you want them. There is a custom boot fitter out on Mt Rose Hwy. and that is his method. My old Nordica boots have a thickish triangular plastic above the top buckle that is Velcro adjustable. The power strap is on top of this adjustable piece----- it can enhance forward lean a bit. Nordica calls it a " transmission wedge" Always stay out of the" backseat"( no pressure on the back of the boot ).

I'm planning on skiing tomorrow also:clap:
