• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Some thoughts on Farkles! 2012 RSS

I've just had a couple of hundred bucks land in my pocket...
I think you guys have convinced me that a laser alignment, and a set of turn signal indicator lights from Reggy might just have to be next...

Bob...that's interesting...is this mod adding something that doesn't exist or replacing factory indicators that are subpar? If the former, why aren't they included from the factory? If the latter, what makes Reggy's better and/or what makes the stock ones poor?

Haven't heard anything on this topic in my browsing of this forum yet :)

That's an interesting comment...are you saying that a stock RSS does not have a cat? If not, then why would you think an RSS would be louder with the same pipe vs an rts?

Also...just to confirm...the widow maker is a certain model tailgunner right? Does it indicate a certain design out the back of the exhaust, the things that rotate? Are there any other customizable features with the tailgunner exhausts?

RTs have a Cat before the Muffler, but pre 2013 RS/RSS have the Cat in the Muffler. So if you go to an aftermarket pipe on an RS/RSS you then dont have the Cat to muffle the sound, or flow like you do on an RT, as no matter what pipe you put on an RT you still have the Cat before it. Thats when you get a Lamonster Cat Delete ;)

Some of our more "senior" members have a tough time seeing the turn signal indicators on the dash, Tricled has a strip of leds that you mount above or below the mirrors to "increase your turn signal visibility"(read:oh crap I left my turn signal on)

Im just playing Bob! ;)

That is surprising to hear as the 2012 RSS comes with FOX gas charged shocks which I thought was one of the high selling points of that particular model. :dontknow: Are they actually less than satisfactory?

All depends what kind of ride you are looking for. Are the fox shocks the comfiest, most adjustable/tunable shocks in existence? Nah. Do they get the job done? Ya. Ride the thing for a couple hundred miles first, heck even a whole season, then see if you think you need better shocks. Elkas are probably really great, but are they $600 for the cheapest set of fronts and $550 for the rear great? There are some much cheaper suspension mods and/or adjustments I would personally try out first.

The bajaron swaybar is absolutely, 100%, without a doubt the best bang for your buck there is.

If your alignment is off(theres about a 99.98% chance it is) getting it aligned is amazing as well. It may only be out a little, and if you don't have a lot of seat time it wont amaze you, but it will increase the life of your tires exponentially, increase gas mileage, make it track straighter, corner better, etc etc etc. Mine was out over an inch on one side and 3/4" on the other and the only thing I noticed was poor tire wear. I never thought it was hard to drive or anything like that, but the difference is night and day. doesn't even feel like the same bike.

Just googled it....fantastic! Love the looks of it and that it's tinted. Also only $125. The shorty says it's +8.5", I'm guessing that is the length higher than stock?

Its not really 8.5", its actually about 7.5" taller than stock. I loved the look, but its always dark when I ride to work and I couldn't stand the tint, no matter how much I wanted to like it. I don't remember, but I think it put a bunch of wind and turbulence right at face level. Not 100% sure on that though, that was a couple windshields and a couple years ago.

:opps: It's an RT thing...
The little green indicator lights on the dash are beyond my visual capabilities...
TricLEDs offers a set of HIGH-QUALITY indicator lights, that you can mount in the mirror housings.
They are FAR more visible to the rider, and to traffic in adjacent lanes.

This is some excellent discussion guys! Thought this thread might fade off after it dropped to the second page, but this is great. The latest replies have been very useful.
