Hey guys!
So some of you may have seen my recent introduction to the forum thread yesterday. I wanted to make another to discuss some aftermarket mods.
Some of the farkles (btw...awesome word... Fancy Accessories Really Kewl Likely Expensive - LOL love it!) that I am thinking about are:
:ani29: First and foremost - aftermarket exhaust for sure - thinking the tailgunner! Maybe RLS Punisher :yikes: I don't mind louder exhausts! My one neighbor has an insanely loud Harley (sounds awesome!) and my other neighbor has a freakin Shelby Cobra with straight headers. I think it's safe to say even if I went with the Punisher I would not get any negative attention in the neighborhood! My DD cager is catless V8 Audi S4 so everyone on the block is loud!
Question: I actually love decel popping and would love it if my Spyder did it. I know it does not hurt anything and is a product of running slightly lean. My friend's uncle had a dodge viper and it would decel pop like whoa and I just thought it was the most badass thing. I know some find it annoying. Whatever exhaust I go with, it'd be major bonus points if it contributed to decel popping. Any have any thoughts on how to tune towards it?
:ani29: Possibly an intake or at least K&N filter. I'm a little concerned about running TOO lean though if I do an intake and exhaust without a fuel management controller. A little popping would be great but too much would not be great and running that lean I'm sure could have future implications for trouble, maybe?
:ani29: Possibly a back rest for the fiancee when she rides with me
Question: are there any models that you can attach to an RSS and then take off when she isn't riding with me?)
:ani29: Possibly a bigger windshield. I have extensive ATV riding experience which is why I know I will love the Spyder. I've ridden ATV's with no windshields and ATV's with nice big windshields. I do like the big ones and don't find them obtrusive at all. I do find that they can make the bike look less sporty. That is my main concern with the RSS. It is pure sex on wheels. I'm not sure if there are any aftermarket windshields that are a little bigger but don't affect the sexiness of the looks of the RSS. What say you guys!?
Here is my last question...for the performance junkies...what is the standard mods to get the most performance/horsepower/acceleration out of the spyders? For instance...with lots of cars...chip, intake, and exhaust are the benchmark for standard performance items. Besides something crazy like a forced induction turbo kit...is there really much more that we can do besides a high performance exhaust, a K&N filter or maybe a KewlMetal intake, and a fuel controller? Is there such a thing as a chip or ECU tune for Spyders? I ask because I know for a fact that the same V Twin is used in the Aprilia bikes and makes 135hp as opposed to our detuned 106hp versions.
Any way to unlock some of that tuning? Also...anyone know why BRP detuned the Spyder's V Twin so much down from the Aprilia versions?
Discuss on!
