• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Some Adjustments Tp The Elkas

Hi Guys! I just got back from a quick 25 mile "Test Flight". I finally got my courage screwed on tight enough to tackle adjusting the preload on the Elka shocks. A bit of background... With BajaRon's Anti-SwayBar and the Elkas on the RT; it turned and handled like an entirely new machine. Cutting the bars and changing directions all handled in one fluid motion. But I was concerned that the ride might be a bit too firm over the long haul, so an adjustment would need to be tried... So, after jacking up the bike and pulling out the proper Allen key and "prybar" that came with the shocks, I took a deep breath and hit it! I took three turns out on the preload; only because I didn't have a clue as to what I needed to do, but I needed to start somewhere... Well; after 25 miles, here's the deal... There is a hint of softness introduced into the turning process. It definitely isn't quite a fluid as it was; but it's still WAY better than as-purchased! :2thumbs: I think that I'll leave it as-is, and my fear of all of the new parts up front has been abated! :ohyea:

You need to measure the spring length. My Elka,s +1 came at 8 1/2 inch and I turned the preload out 4 turns and they measured 8 3/4 -(Softer) which was still a Bit stiff for the GS BUT Len said was about perfect for the RT and I moved them to the RT at the 8 3/4 inch length and find them perfect for the RT with the BajaRon bar installed! I find 22 Rebound perfect. Your results may vary?:dontknow:

I'm glad you took the plunge to get the Elka's adjusted correctly so when I test drive your RT it will be perfect...

John

Quick note: I checked the spring length on the shocks; it's now at 9" They were at 8.75" when I bought them...

Where?

When measuring the spring length do you measure from the top of the adjuster or just under. To the bottom of the spring ring or just above?
Thanks
Joe

I just went with the spring length... Technically; that could be called to each Inside edge of the adjusters... Or the Outside edge of the springs... :D

Pitbull Powersports added the Len brackets to my Elkas yesterday. Drove very short way mostly what I called city driving corners some highway noticeable improvement and I was very happy with just my Elkas ..
