There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. SOLUTION FOR HOT SEATS WHILE RIDING?

Florida girl

New member
I have searched the threads but can't seem to find any information on this. I just purchased my RT limited about 7 weeks ago down here in sunny (and quite warm) southwest Florida. Question: The seat appears to be vinyl? Does anyone have a solution for a ventilated seat cover while riding in very warm temperatures. It's a bit distressing arriving at your destination with wet clothing. :opps: I have seen a :spyder2: with the bead seat cover but not sure I want to sit on beads. :( Today I saw a Harley with a seat cover that looked perfect but not sure where it was purchased or even if it would fit the :spyder2: Any suggestions?

Kontour Seat

I started using my Kontour Seat earlier this spring. On a recent 90 degree day, I left the Spyder in full sun for about 45 minutes before getting on it. The seat was not at all hot and was actually very comfortable. The stock seat would have been really hot plus had no air flow. This seat has lots of air flow and a reflective inner layer to keep the seat cooler. Take a look at the details on their website www.kontourseat.com. This even beats the Airhawk seat cushion that I used on my Honda Shadow VT1100 before I got my Spyder.

I have used beads on my spyder for 3 years....amazing. It takes a bit to get used to them but they keep you butt cool and comfortable to sit on.

Thats what we use from a place called Alaska leathers
:agree:...........we have the sheared sheepskin covers from Alaska Leather plus we cut a piece for memory foam for under each "butt pad". This also adds some degree of comfort to the seats.

I tried the alaska leather sheepskin first but it didnt work for me.....

Kontour Seat :2thumbs::2thumbs::2thumbs:

Is this a replacement seat or does it just lay on the existing seat?

Kontour is a seat rebuild with their foam and special seatcover material. I would have one too if I had the money. The one I saw in person (Spyderpop's Spyder) looked great and felt comfortable.

I would also like to give a thumbs up for the Beadrider as a cheap and easy solution. They are comfortable to ride on and install and remove quickly and easily. They worked great for us until we got our Russell rebuilt seats.

I use beads, as they allow air to flow under your butt. Usually, they work well for me. I also carry a small sheepskin pad to put on top of the beads on days when the rear posterior seems to be a little more sensitive.
Just my experience.

Thanks so much everyone. Great information. :2thumbs: I think the first thing I will do is order the sheepskin from Alaska Leather. (Great suggestion) I may also order the beads but want to see how the sheepskin works first. It's great to get on this site and be able to ask questions and get great information from all of you. Thanks again so much!!!

I own and use sheepskin covers on my spyders from time to time. They are excellent for insulation from the heat in hot weather. Not good in the rain.

Barb and the gang from Alaska Leather sell a great seat--you can get them with a gel liner in them also. They have a website and also advertise in a couple major cycle magazines.

They lay on top of the seat and have stretchy straps that go under the seat and fasten to each other. Never had a problem with them moving around on me.

Beads. Watch out your first time on the seat. You need to get used to them. There kinda like little ball bearings under your tush until you get used to them. 2Thumbs up on price and use.

We use Alaska Leather sheepskins. Cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Well, cooler than vinyl. Love them.
