• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Solo Ride

Getting ready for a solo ride from Georgia to South Padre Island (Brownsville), Texas. Does anybody know what the hotel/motel situation is like in the Houston area since the hurricane.

Call ahead of time. They had a story in the radio this morning that many hotels are still filled with people without homes and won't have vacancies for a month. I would check before you leave to be safe.

no worries, they do 1-2 cross country trips each year, maybe next time.........

if you ever want a good club to ride with though, we are members of the southern cruisers riding club #213 covington, conyers area......... we're always doing small rides
& have a lot of fun

Don't know what your flight plan is but if you can make it through Houston on I-10, there are Best Westerns in Luling, Flatonia, and Schulenberg. Don't believe any of those towns were damaged during the storm. Might be worth Googling Best Western and checking on availability though.

And on South Padre Island you'll find tons of motels with off season pricing. Louie's Backyard is a great restaurant and was one of our favorites when we lived in Port Isabel some years ago. In fact almost everything is on South Padre Boulevard and at this time of year it's not busy at all.

Safe travels.

I decided to plan my riding times to pass thru Houston and stay in Corpus. South Padre is great. I lived there in the 80's. My brother is building some townhouses on the beach there. Going the sit there andsurf fish and watch him work. Thanks for the help.
