• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sold BMW Z4 Roadster, more room for Spyder

I just sold my BMW Z4 Roadster to Carmax to make more room for my Spyder Roadster. The Z4 was a 2003 and only had 11,769 miles on it but I only got $16,000 from Carmax. However that replaces most of the cost of the Spyder.

As can be seen from the mileage, I didn't drive the Z4 much and I basically bought the Spyder to replace it. Now the Spyder has a whole garage to itself! But not for long - one of my Yamaha dual sport trike conversions (see profile photo) will be its garage mate. That one has been banned to my shop from the time I brought the Spyder home.

I sold my Boss Hoss to make room for the Spyder. It was better than building a new garage at the time.

My wife tried to persuade me for the last two years to build an additional garage for a shop, since the cars and bikes had taken over the barn space. Then, just as she had me ready to cave in, she went and spent all the money on her Spyder! :) Created a shortage in more than one way. Now one bike resides in the bed of my Effie, and another is in the basement. Boy, can I relate!

Thanks guys. That gives me some moral support for my decision to sell the Z4. It wasn't that I wanted to keep the Z4 so much as I didn't think Carmax was giving me a very good deal. Of course I realize they wouldn't be in business if they couldn't make money and it appears they have a high overhead.

During the two days (they make a written offer good for seven days) I was making up my mind I just kept thinking how nice it would be to have that garage space. The place I was parking my Spyder was so tight that I would have to stop on the sidewalk and push the Spyder backwards up into its spot by hand. Ran over my foot with a front wheel once doing that. :sour:

It is nice to have the space!!!! :2thumbs:
