Software update needs more research?

Called my dealer today to set up my 10,000km service and steering update ,person on the line turns out was one of the Techs. told him i'd bring it in at the start of the week and to have it ready by the weekend.His reply was they should be able to get to it but they have done 5 Spyders and have had 2 that needed steering box replaced as they would not take the patch.One guy I ride with just went through the same thing at another dealer and had his steering box replaced on BRP's dime [$1100.many dimes actually].Read through many posts on here and have got both good and bad results .Sounds to me BRP may have to release a different patch version.opcorn:As a precaution i'm going to pull the Juicebox out before the update.:spyder:

I think that the number of DPS units that the software upgrade is revealing as being bad is the real problem. The DPS is working improperly but the old software doesn't know it or doesn't announce it. I think the new software is more sophisticated in knowing the DPS status and is bringing to light a number of bad DPS units. My power steering totally quit working one week before I had the software upgrade but my Spyder ran fine otherwise and the display never showed one issue or fault code. When I brought the Spyder in for the software upgrade, I mentioned that the power steering quit working. They hooked my Spyder up to BUDS and no faults were reported so they started the upgrade. Part way into the upgrade, they said that BUDS couldn't recognize my DPS module. The other modules upgraded without a problem though. When they finished and turned on the Spyder, a DPS fault was constantly scrolling across the screen with the check engine light on. I had to leave the Spyder there while they got a new DPS module from BRP. I've been on the road and running great for a week since getting my new DPS module and software upgrade.

I read a post from Widowmaker in which his dealer discovered and recommended to BRP the throttle position sensor and GPS may be out of sync after the update and may then need to be reset.
