• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So why am I still not comfortable?

I have been trying to get comfortable on my RT since I bought it last year. I am 5'11" and 280 lbs., and have installed the Ultimate Seat Tall Boy with backrest, the Spyderrt.com floorboards, and the Lamonster NBV peg mounts and spyder pegs. I still get knee cramping and lower leg discomfort after riding more than 50 miles, and have not had this problem on other bikes. I think it is due to the angle of spread caused by the center mass, so that my knees are constantly "torqued" when I ride. I am a seasoned LD rider, so this is perplexing to me. Any ideas?

Take a look at what I have done to keep me in the saddle for long trips. You can find some pics at http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/album.php?albumid=1359

These highway brackets (KewlMetal) and boards (Kury) are set low and just forward of the rider's pegs. When I get that urge to get out of the saddle, I put my feet down on these and then just straighten my legs completely. This raises me about 1-2 inches, just enough to start the blood flow in the rear again, plus get a little air flow. I lean against the Utopia backrest and can steer with one or two hands. This is comfortable, no stress on the joints or muscles & I can ride like this for miles.

I've made several long trips with this configuration, including two 4,000 miles - 10 days trips. In fact, on the way back from the Durango Owners Event last June, I rode 782 miles the first day heading home, stopping for the night in Oklahoma City.

PM me if you want my cell number & we can talk, if you're interested.

What's your inseem? Do you feel as if your legs are getting squished into place, or is there too much presssure on the backs of your upper thighs from them being stretched out?

these drop your legs dowen so to give you moore room this would help with your legs craping.:2thumbs:

6'4" so may not apply...

Had a shop move my seat up 1" and the step between the front & back moved back 3-1/2". Drastic improvement!!!

Your seat is a big deal, and off the shelf options may not work. I had a seat that worked for me on my K1200, and gave it to a friend, who has your complaints.

I have a Corbin with a Lamonster cut, which rolls you back into the seat, and a set of Seal Floorboards - highway pegs just didn't do it for me (on the Spyder), and the Seals do.

I would find someone with a Corbin & try it. Otherwise, your option may be a Russell custom….

I'm 6'4" and 295#, and I could do a 3000 mile tour comfortably on my Spyder (weather permitting, which it is NOT right now…)
