• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

so what do you think america should do

We should just stay out of their way...
Undermining the Russians on their own ground is just bad manners.
Besides; how much of these reports have even a shred of truth contained within them? :dontknow:
For Terrorism to work; it only needs to cause terror...
nothing else! nojoke

You're not going to stop terror. You can only hope to slow it down. Until the Lord returns, Evil people will continue to do Evil things.

Russia may not have been the best place to hold these games but that's a done deal now. Let the athletes decide. It's their neck and their game. Spectators have to make the same decision.

America did not become great because the government told us what to do with our lives.

It's your life. You should be able to make the choice. Get informed, take responsibility for yourself, and deal with whatever the outcome may be.

Sadly..!!

we are committed. :agree: but often wonder, with all the places on earth why do they consider places with unrest. Events like these are great playgrounds for terror..Do hope it is all show...

I wouldn't and don't go to any of these countries, these people hate the US, let's stop supporting these countries and concentrate on fixing our own!

Im done lol

I think the answer is... there is no Good answer. I hope people go and I hope nothing happens. But hoping very seldom does much.

Praying is a much more effective approach.

This is not Iraq or Nigeria, this is Russia. The cold war ended long ago. While Putin and ***** do not see eye to eye, the US and Russia actually have a pretty good relationship. LOTS of trade both directions, free travel between the two. My many travels to Russia for business purposes have shown that the majority of the country does not hate the US at all. In fact the factions that are threatening the Olympics have no beef with the US either.

Not everyone in the world is out to get us.;)

I agree

Of the few places where the Olympics were disrupted by violence one of them was Atlanta with an explosion. If I remember my geography at all, that's in the USA.

Yes... but by a AMERICAN lunatic; not a terrorist... :gaah:

All that these :cus: need to do; get folks worried.
Then; they've accomplished their goal by barely lifting a finger. :banghead:

That's the basic problem.
If we don't go, the Bad Guys win.
If we do go, and God Forbid something would happen, the Bad Guys win.

:agree: with both posts. We can never guarantee that no bad thing will ever happen, anywhere. As for terrorist attacks, Boston wasn't in a foreign country, either (just because no one can understand folks from Boston doesn't mean it's another country! :roflblack:.) We do the best we can and press on.

I still think the rest of the world is out to get us.

Odds

Life, and living it, is a game of odds. Odds are you're going out one way or another. Many here have clear memories of what it's like to be in the midst of ghost fighters (non uniformed combatants).

Sadly, it's the world we ALL live in now. Odds are ?

IMO: We should leave the security up to the host country. I am sure they know what they are doing. Each person has to make a choice about whether or not to go. That is up to them.

That is as political as I am going to go.

I've been in Russia. Russians don't hate Americans. As a matter of fact Russian men think American women are the most beautiful women on the planet, and many Russian women would fall for an American man in a New York minute.

The Russian government really is not representative of the Russian people. The Russian government doesn't like us much--but the people do like us. I experienced the same thing in China too.

But I agree with you on not going to the Olympics. In my opinion, personal security is too uncertain.

Would praying that all terrorists die a slow, painful death meet the criteria of a more effective approach?

Athletes should decide for themselves. It is up to the host country to provide adequate security. For the life of me, I cannot imagine who would want to host an Olympic event? Every time the United States gets passed over as a host nation - I say hallelujah! The expense and effort is just not worth it!

Kudos to the Russians if they can pull this off without a major event occurring on their soil. For god sake, build the Keystone Pipeline so we can extract ourselves from Middle Eastern oil and all the shenanigans that go on to protect our supplies because we are dependent upon them to deliver the oil we need. Between Canada and our own country - we should not have to depend upon the Middle East.

The 1984 Olympics here in Los Angeles was an event that people still talk about. It was perhaps the best 4 week period in Southern California history that I can recall. I've lived here only 63 years, so my personal history is kind of limited in that regard. Honestly, it was great. Traffic was great; the venues were great; the sports were great; the Olympic arts festival and music festival was great. I would make a personal donation of a few hundred dollars to the Olympic committee to help fund the thing (again) if it would come back.

It would be better than great having it here again.
