• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So many complaints about the Spyders. Anyone with no problems?

It seems every forum and facebook page is full of problems and complaints on the Spyders. Any owners who have had no problems with their machines?I had a 2023 F3 that I bought used with 92 miles and it developed a water pump leak at 500 miles. Now I have a 2024 F3S which I just purchased new and I hope to have no problems with this one.

No problems with my 2019 RTL. 11k miles, the last 7k (since I have owned it) have not been so gentle either.

Keep in mind that most people go online to try to solve a problem. And people in general are more vocal about their complaints than their compliments.

I've owned three .... some issues that were under warranty ..... since then no issues .....Mike

I have a 2016 RT (my 3rd RT) with 45,000 miles. I only had one trip to dealer because I lost reverse. Cost less than $200. Let's ryde.

My 2012 has been running fine I must say.
Some issues at first, but covered by warranty, they fixed those quickly.
Since then, I've replaced a few batteries; rear wheel abs sensor once; replaced the air compressor once; and last year the drivebelt was replaced. So all in all, not the biggest expenses.
I hope it will last me many years still! (Knock on wood)

Haven't had any trouble with my '22 RTL. Well, I guess I did preventive maintenance - I took out the cheap battery and replaced with a Yuasa battery. My '17 RTL just needed the ride height link arm bolted on, and a hose clamp replaced. After that, no problems with it. The Wife's '19 F3L has had no problems. Bought each one in the Model/Year they're posted as.

2020 RT 36,000 miles of hard riding. 1 problem - flakey brake light switch that I replaced. RT hasn't seen the dealer since purchase in '20.

2022 RT - never been to dealer... have to take it in for the brake light switch recall.

2015 RTL bought used in Mar 2017 with 224 miles. I now have 50,000 miles. Just normal maintenance. I have NOT had any codes at any time. Yes, I've seen the orange screen for saddle bag open, brake fluid low, or VSS whenever I trigger it on Tail of Dragon. :ohyea: :ohyea:
It's been a great Spyder!

Go to any forum about any vehicle and you will find a great many complaints, issues, and problems. That's because forums are the place to go to get things resolved. Not to say that the Spyder does not have its share of foibles. Just that it's the nature of the format. Add to this that more 1st time riders buy a Spyder than any other motorcycle and that ups the issue component. You can't really compare a motorcycle to a car in this respect. Yet for many, it's the only reference they have.

Vibration, for example. The Spyder has very minor vibration issues. Try riding a 441 BSA for example. Now that's vibration!

So, yes, you're going to get all the dirty laundry aired out on a forum. But this forum has a great track record of resolving customer issues. Most come here to do both.

Like in everything else in this world, people will complain more than come out and say something nice. Forums usually are for the complainers and not the atta-boys.

Only to the dealer for brake light switch. Only got 8K on my 2020 RTL. Vibration around 70-74 just like my 16. Still thinking about a GW trike though.

I have a 17 RTL with 36000 miles on it. Had 5300 when I got it in July 2020. Only been to a dealer one time for front sprocket recall. I do all other maintenance items myself. Never had a code light up. No other problems.
It has been a very dependable Spyder.

You won’t find as many complaints on here as you do on the FB pages, Pantera. I have shut down most of my Spyder FB pages as they are the domain of riders who know nothing about the Spyder, but who are quick to criticise. One rider actually complained that they couldn’t find the gas cap after they headed out on their first trip and ran out of gas on the way home. They then went on to berate Can Am for poor design because THEY couldn’t find the gas cap. Seriously? They didn’t read their manual before they took the Spyder out, and didn’t take a manual with them? ...and that example is just one of many similar on FB.

Unfortunately, those types of idiotic behaviour reflect badly on the Spyder itself... and those looking to buy one! :lecturef_smilie:

My 2023 RTL has an intermittent air suspension light. I went on a 4,000 mi trip & the dealer fixed it after the trip. The air-line to the air-bag was too short. Happy smiley miles since then. One eye on the chinee battery tho... :spyder:

81,433 Miles of Smiles, well outweighs any problems!

Down time still sucked (or just made ryding sweeter/when going again).
