• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So is the ride to SpyderFest 2013 a new distance record for you?

It will be for me... My prior distance totals for a day's worth of saddle time have never excceeded 400 miles. :opps:
This journey will have us doing two 600 mile days... each way!
Do any of you, "Iron-Butt Types" have any advice for us Newbies?

Enjoy enjoy enjoy

:yikes:
Walk around for 10 to 15 minutes at each gas stop, and have a Jolt cola(twice to caffine and twice the sugar!)

Relax..!!

Don't worry about the time and distance as you drive. The more you watch the od and clock the slower your progress seems. Keep your eyes on the road and your mind busy..I ryde till empty fill up bike and ryder walk around stretch then pull on out...good luck relax and enjoy...!! :ohyea:

All good advice from your fellow travelers. Break it up into doable pieces. Enjoy the scenery. Don't watch the tripmeter mile by mile. Drive safe.

Actually, according to the Ironbutt website, you want to avoid these kinds of drinks, and any caffine. Due to the possibility of a sugar crash possibly leading to a real crash. I only drank water, vitamin water and 1 5 hour energy during my ironbutt ryde to last years SpyderFest. I stopped every 150 miles or so for fuel and a couple times to stretch and rehydrate.

Sugary drinks are a strict no-go to this Type I Diabetic (48 years of it! :gaah:) I'm planning on good 'ole bottled-water, and gummy bears if the Blood Glucose levels start to head South on me...
I always take my trips and break them down to fuel stop intervals; on these bikes, that's usually no more than 150 mile chunks.

My previous was Lamont's BBQ last September, under 400 miles. SpyderFest will be over 800. Have to keep telling ourselves look what Murphybrown did this week and she was by herself!! My idol...

The furthest I've ridden so far is about 150 miles. So this will be my first real "road trip."

Im in the proces of packing now and will hit the road tomorrow.

Cant wait to meet y'all. :dg2:

This is the longest trip we have made to date! Over 800 miles one way. The longest we have ridden in one day has been around 200 and that was round trip. Doing a lot of

long riders

We do a lot of 300 to 400 mile day trips around mi. This trip will be just over 800. We like to break up trip with some sightseeing roads and interstates. We stop every 100 to 120 miles for fuel and a walk around. look at sights and for get miles. Remember getting there is half the fun!:ohyea:

Ear plugs! The road noise will echo in your head for hours after you stop, and it will eat into your sleep too. Safe travels see you there.

This will my longest one day ride and maybe the longest over all. I will know once I get home and have the final mileage. Leaving reallly early in the morning and hoping to arrive tuesday night. Looking forward to see all there.:yes::yes::yes:
