• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So, I paid inside for gas and when I came outside my Spyder was gone...

A scarry start but a good ending. I'm glad that worked out okay for you. You really did scare me though. A couple of years ago we traveled to Fairbanks and stayed at a nice resort. In the morning, I could not find the wife's key. We went through all our gear and the cabin about 3 times. We did have a spare--but the fact that one key was missing was a problem for me. Well, I found it--we left it in the ignition of Spyder all night--sitting in the front row of the parking lot--where everyone could see both Spyders parked side by side. We got real lucky that time.

I did that one time while at a fast food place with my wife. She never let me forget it either :roflblack:

The parking brake is not hard to adjust and maintain.....there are plenty of threads here about it.
I agree. And it should be routine maintenance, especially for those with SE5s. Even with an SM5, all it takes is some looky-loo kid to kick the shifter on a bit of a grade. These things are not bikes, they will roll some distance. I lock the bars and set the brakes, every time I park.

Pounding Heart!

Shame on you.......... scaring everyone like that. :lecturef_smilie: My heart was pounding and I involuntarily held my breath. I just knew your precious Spyder was gone. Good for you........... you were lucky. We all learn from our mistakes and sharing them with others helps. Thanks for sharing, even if you did scare me.

Hoping to be a Spyder owner SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON

yeah, the 'pre-fix' parking brakes had issues...my bike took a walk at a gas station too but I caught it as it was rolling...was really embarrassed...

Since fixed, no issues...phew!

When I had the GS/RS I always carried a wheel block for those times when you're parking on top of a hill, which seems to be many. That parking brake always seemed to get out of adjustment at the wrong times. Since then I got the RT. Man I love those electric parking brakes! Now I hope the battery stays good.

Hi There!! I guess it's true what they say,, those Spyders really want to go.:roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack:

PS I'm glad it was just a scare for you guys and not for real!

I have your solution for a good parking brake addition. Write to me at [email protected]>. Your bike will never roll away again.

I looked left, no Spyder. Looked right, and there it was, about 15-20 feet away. I had locked the parking brake, but obviously it didn't hold. It had rolled down from the pump on the inclined parking lot

My heart sank as I first started to read your post... How dare you do that to me :cus::roflblack:

Holy Crapskie! My heart sputtered too. My first thought (regarding my own practice) was; "stop leaving the dang key in the ignition when I run inside"!:yikes:

I wouldn't get too comfortable with the electric brake on the RTs. Mine had to be adjusted last week (thank you Gary!), was so stretched out the end was popping off the cam and would get a "brake failure" error. So I ended up carrying around a rock to chock the wheels for several days.
