• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

So, I paid inside for gas and when I came outside my Spyder was gone...

So, I paid inside for gas and when I came outside my Spyder was gone...

The pump wouldn't accept my credit card, so I went inside to pay. When I got back to the pump, my Spyder was gone. I was wearing my helmet the whole time, so I didn't notice until I was about 5 feet away.

I looked left, no Spyder. Looked right, and there it was, about 15-20 feet away. I had locked the parking brake, but obviously it didn't hold. It had rolled down from the pump on the inclined parking lot till it leveled off, which thankfully was far away from any obstacles...

Phew!!! Off to the shop for a parking brake fix!

Good story & glad your luck held!!

I have a Sm5 Last year i was parked on my driveway in neutral with the foot brake on. Why i left it in neutral I'll never know?? 40+ years of riding bikes i never leave it in neutral.
Well needless to say the brake didn't hold and it rolled down the driveway backwards into the street and about 50 yards,
No damage except to my pride.
I did have an audience watching [laughing at] me running after it.

My heart sunk for you as well, as I thought someone had taken off on it. Glad to hear that it didn't roll into anything during its solo journey.

A scarry start but a good ending. I'm glad that worked out okay for you. You really did scare me though. A couple of years ago we traveled to Fairbanks and stayed at a nice resort. In the morning, I could not find the wife's key. We went through all our gear and the cabin about 3 times. We did have a spare--but the fact that one key was missing was a problem for me. Well, I found it--we left it in the ignition of Spyder all night--sitting in the front row of the parking lot--where everyone could see both Spyders parked side by side. We got real lucky that time.

That is what I thought too. Glad to hear things turned out alright. These parking brakes don't have a lot of oomph to 'em. Good lesson for us all!

Thanks for the story. I too thought the worst at first. You have taught me an important lesson. Maybe I won't have to tell the same story thanks to you. I learn something new every day on SpyderLovers.

Ride in comfort,

After reading the opening line my first thought was that it was taken by the "Wicked Angels". Was going to offer you my assistance.

Ha ha XLT... awesome!

My hear did sink too, everyone... I really thought it was gone...
I was very lucky that it didn't roll into something - I must have looked silly walking back up the pump... :joke:

Not sure about the RS but I don`t think the average passerby could figure out how to start an RT even if you left the key in it. That is the good thing about the starting procedure, lol. Glad you did not loose yours.

My heart sank as I first started to read your post... How dare you do that to me :cus::roflblack:

:agree: and I am glad it was not stolen. My parking brake does not hold sometimes, and I will be at the dealer Tuesday to get it fixed. I might just have to do it Saturday after reading this posting.
