There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. So here's what I know about the 2010s

Here is a little list of the things I know or at least have been told or seen about the 2010 Spyder touring bikes.

Although Thursday could prove some of these things incorrect, I have most of these things on good information and or have seen myself.

They will...

Have bags
Have trunk
Have driver foot pegs 11 inches further forward
Have passanger floorboards standard
Have big cushy steped seat
Have a model that comes standard with fog lights installed
Have at least 3 colors, black, blue, silver
Have a "normal" rear fender
Have some chrome trim
Have an adjustable windsheild
Have relocated mirrors that are more part of the body work
Have totally changed front nose for redirected air flow
Have pull back bars
Have .......?

Now you add what you at least have reasonable knowledge of (please no wish lists)

Maybe we'll come close to what Thursday will reveal for sure. :dontknow:

Starting at about $19,000 and going up to $23,000 :dontknow:

"Have driver foot pegs 11 inches further forward"

Wonder if that means relocated brake and shifter foot controls or more like highway pegs?

Pete

One could sure add a ton of farkles to a $15K SM5 for that kind of money!!

I'll grant that it's cheaper than adding a trike kit to my LT, but I didn't see: GPS, intercom, heated seats/grips, electrically adjustable windshield, stereo, iPod interface, bluetooth, or hand brake. All of which you get with a LT, Wing, or Vision at a similar price. IE - I'd still buy the cheap one & farklize it.

The only thing I want to see is how they move the controls that far forward, without stretching the length of the Spyder...

Sounds about right to me, a highly accessorized Spyder with some tupperware upgrade. Would be nice if some of the upgrades found their way to aftermarket so the 08 & 09 models could benefit from some of them.

I think I'll patiently wait and see.

I heard thought that there will be a basic touring and full-electronic equiped one.

Should keep this forum buzzing this week!

My dealer confirmed he'd been told there'd be a touring model, but as I've seen most places had no idea what that meant. He said there are going to be 'three new models' with touring being one of them. He was hoping they weren't counting different 'colors' as models though as he said he's seen some companies say 'we have three new models -- green, blue and red' or whatever and that he finds that extremely lame.

I wish they would solve the problems that they "created" by their updates before creating another version

I heard they're gonna cost a good amount of coin. I'd rather farklize mine too when the time comes, if it comes.

Now the mirror thing I am interested in - I'd love to see where they put those antennae. Black for color - now that's a nice color - gloss black would be very nice.

Adjustable windshield? As in CHAD? Nothing beats the CHAD - I don't care who says what - NOTHING BEATS IT and BRP's version won't come CLOSE.

I am going with $25-30K, and wouldn't be surprised if the starting MSRP is closer to $30K. With the models we have now starting at $16K for the standard shift, add a bigger engine, all around bags, automatic, etc., etc., it will add up quickly. Be interesting to find out.

Will this new touring model be in addition to the current style Spyder? Will there still be a Spyder like the current style?

add a bigger engine,

Where did you hear bigger engine? :dontknow:

Tell us more, because I have not heard anything about a bigger engine from a reputable source at all.

Please fill us in, because I'd love a bigger engine.

Some guy on the other :spyder:forum was studying some pic (same one here w/ the squirrel) and he made a long list of observations which I will paste: Also people were talking about how the lights are different and stuff.

Floorboards
Rear trunk
Rear Bags
Handlebars are pullback (aka Goldwing)
Still belt drive
Has antanae so obvious a sound system
bike in the front (left) has chromed lights similar to the position our optional fog lights are in)
Windshield is adjustable
Instrument pod extends way higher than ours
Seat is way different than even the new touring seat , huge step to passenger seat, clearly defining driver , passenger.

Not quite so obvious:

Nose is shorter
Entire "girth" of the front of the machine is bigger.
Engine cowls are wider and taller

What hides under the larger engine cowls is what I just don't know. no reason to make them bigger unless theres a bigger motor.

Perhaps a base RT is available with the current 990 twin which becomes the "base engine" and my hope is a 1200 triple slides into the full blown model , derived from their watercraft and sleds. Its compact , narrow , powerful and can produce up to 255 HP (FACTORY STOCK) with the factory supercharger (aka seadoo rxt 255) and would fit well. Expect the motor to be about 130 to 155 hp in its initial offering though... If not the 1200 triple , expect a refined 1200cc twin loosely based on the 990 and the 1125 buell rotax which are close cousins. That would be less expensive for Rotax to model as those motors are already designed with a tranny and the 1200 triple is not.
The RT (if thats what these pictures are and I do not claim to know....) is not just a "nicer" spyder , its obviously a whole new class of machine , having to compete with goldwings etc. In order to do that , it MUST use a larger , and SMOOTHER motor, or it will be panned from the get go. Our 990 is awesome , but is not a motor for this segment of spyders.

Just got off the phone w/ my dealer who is in DC. He told me nobody sees nothin until tomorrow. He said definitely a cruising model but doesn't know about any other models. He still says Blue, White & Burgandy for colors. That's all he knows right now.

Just a hunch. If I knew for sure I'd be psychic!

I have personally seen Spy photos from the convention floor of silver, blue and black but did not see a shot of the burgundy ones.

That would be a nice color too my dealer today said he also heard of a white one too.

I'm wondering if it's a gloss black - that would be nice! I am sure I'll keep what I have but if they have any really major changes, I might look into a trade but I'll lose a ton of $$$ though I bet. I'd want to take my CHAD, and 2 bros pipe with me. Wish I could take those risers w/ me too.

I'd love to see gloss black w/ the mirrors and lights changed up. I like the ryding setup of the pegs, don't think I'd need floor boards. I guess I'd like to keep a "sport" version but have some extras w/ it. I'm not ready for the touring version, at least I don't think I am:dontknow: But have a sport version w/ a bigger, faster engine, chop the front & back fenders w/ bigger, wider front tires.
