• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

snowbound

I don't know but does this only happen in the northeast: We are suppose to get 5 to 8 inches of snow which is not all that much but it seems everybody runs to the market and buys like 5 loaves of bread and 10 gallons of milk like they will never get out again this also happens when they say 2" of snow. :dontknow:

Same here Roger. We lived in the St. Louis area for 30+ years and every time they predicted any measurable snow or ice all the stores sold out of bread, milk, ice melt and snow shovels. One TV station always has a news broadcaster in the same hardware store showing the snow shovels flying out the door. Seemed like no-one ever kept a snow shovel and had to have a new one with each snowfall. Probably pitched them in the trash after the streets were opened the next day.

Part of the problem is the idiot newscasters. Tonight's news devoted a full 15 minutes to all the "storm problems". We only had 3-4 inches of snow, for crying out loud! Never had this much trouble when the news was only 15 minutes long, but they have to fill an hour and a half now. :D They scare the pants off of this "nation of wusses", as Rush Limbaugh puts it. It is insane! 3-4 inches isn't even enought for me to trade my snow shovel for my snowblower.

It's called the Watching the weather channel syndrome.
With all the weather channels competing for viewers they creates a panic amongst the soccer moms.:yikes:
It's like in Hurricane prone States, they hear a hurricane is coming and buy out the Home Depot's supply of Plywood to board up their windows.
Just wondering what did they do with the plywood from the last time;
Grind it up and use it in their Corn Flakes? :roflblack:

The news is business, business must make money, money blures the truth. The end result is terible, misleading and many times false info. Tragedy, glum & dumb is what sells. Isn`t it a shame. I work for Toyota and I know exactly what went down on all the recalls latley, some true to some degree but do you think they would report any of the upside, no it kills the story. They only tell the part that makes for the most shock and awe. The weather, war, companys, global warming, etc. and so on, what do you believe. You know all I have to do is change news to politicians and the rest of the story is the same.
So my point is some are lead by what they hear and the rest of us will think for ourselves. Myself I will buy one loaf of bread, one gallon of milk, and I have had the same snow shovel for 20 yrs. I think the person who buys 5 loaves of bread and 3 gallons of milk and throughs 75% of it away would probably never own a Spyder, lol. Thank goodness for that!!!!

Thats true they go buy the cheapest shovel and wonder why it bent?

Yes they are saying 5-8 inches but that is all they will talk about on the morning shows tomorrow. i don't know why but for some reason i switched my car radio over to am and scanned thru and came across Rush listened for awhile.

You are probably right. And the toyota recalls did not stop me from buying a 2011 camry hybrid last spring

Are you inferring that Roger lives in wussletown, NY?

I don't think he is but i think this mentality came from people who use to live in the city who can walk down to the corner and get what they need i'am about 65 miles northwest of the city when you move up here you better have a car to get anywhere and they are not use to having to drive in the snow. They get so use to the subway and buses or walking. I'am not putting them down but it is a fact.

.....and I have had the same snow shovel for 20 yrs. .....
:roflblack: Gotcha beat! As I was shoveling today, I realized that I have had my old pusher shovel 37 years now. It is about twice the gauge of the flimsy things they sell nowadays, but it is reliable as the day is long. Heavier than my Ford F-150 Supercab, though. :roflblack:

:2thumbs: Right on Scotty. but Roger, up here where I live, they call that a "dusting", besides, we can just go out and milk a cow and throw some stuff in the bread maker and we're all set. :roflblack::roflblack:

Not only plywood but bottled water and canned foods. For some reason the Spam goes first. Still have some creamed corn left over from the last hurricane.:shemademe_smilie:

Ah talk about bringing back memories i grew up on a dairy farm and drank raw milk also. bread from the market. ah the great state of VT what i found interesting about are ride thru their was it seems you could be on one side of a mountain and 10-15 minutes later you are on the otherside you can't do that to often here in NY. Driving thru those old towns and villages was awesome it was like you drove back in time.
