• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SNAKES ALIVE

We pretty much have garter snakes, some sort of musk snake, and black snakes...
(They can get big AND mean; great sport!)

Bob, as you might know, we have rattle snakes around here. I don't fear them as I send the wife out in our back 40 to check for them before I get her weed eater out for her to trim. Last Xmas I bought her a fancy pair of snake leggins....I am a good guy...When I lived in San Antonio (I am 25 miles north now) a lady across the street went out to put water in her bird bath and a rattler hit her ankle....only one fang, the other had broken off some time ago. I never saw as terrible wound at she had...two months to recover....and she was sick....Ugh.

What really concerns me here is the Brown Recluse Spider....you don't feel their bite and it takes serious medical treatment to keep it from rotting (killing) large patches of skin....they hide in dark places, wood piles, etc. Bad fellows for sure. I tell the wife to wear her gloves when bringing in the cook stove wood.

:spyder2:

Rattlers wouldn't bother me; I always look where I'm stepping, and my ears still work pretty well...
Them Brown Recluse :cus:... I think that I'll stay away from Texas! :yikes:
Hey! What if you send all of the illegals home, with one of them in each pocket?
Which; would you run out of first? :D

Ha ha, I don't know, we have lots of both....you do too, (not spiders) but you have to wear a green hat with ICE on it to see who runs...and then sort them out.

:D

I had the misfortune of getting bit by a brown recluse a few years ago and nearly ended up in the hospital. I had to keep the foot elevated round the clock for Ten days. That was a long ten days!! Little bite, big pain.

Funny story about rattlers. Years ago, I was a crane operator and got
Called out on a job to lift up old appliances that had been dumped in a hole that was about 30 feet deep
And 100 ft across. The plan was to lower a man down in the pit and he would hook up to each appliance, signal and I would lift it and then go back to him
For more. He would stay there. However, when he hooked the first appliance he jumped on it and signaled for me to bring him up. When I asked why he did not stay down, he said when he hooked the first one all he could hear was rattlers all around him. So, we spent the rest of the day with him standing one foot in the main hook and using a second strap to fish hook each appliance,. That was a rough day for him to stand one foot in the hook.
Many people hunting the rattle snake areas will buy a section of stove pipe and snap it around each leg to prevent a bite.

Lol. I come home after a 11 hour day as an Entomologist to relax and check out this forum, and here I find pest discussion. Wrong Spyder discussions.
