There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. SmoothSpyder Belt Tensioner

Has anybody installed a SmoothSpyder Belt Tensioner on a 2013 ST-S yet? I was wondering about the install and about the reduction on belt vibration. Do you need to drill any holes, or is it a bolt on?

The 2013 RT's and ST's bolt on through an existing hole now, no more drilling involved. I have been waiting for some feedback myself. Mine has reduced the moderate vibration I had from 72-78 MPH to just a little bit at 74 MPH.

Well I was at my dealer today and I know the mechanic there for 13 years, I asking the same question and he told me is not a good idea, because when the belt is loose it could be because something is not working correctly and is better just to take it in, my dealer will not charge me if my belt need adjustment, but that is my dealer.

The belt tensioner was misnamed. It does not add much tension to the belt and should be removed before the belt is properly tensioned and then reinstalled. It takes the harmonic vibration out of the belt because it is so long. At no time should the belt tensioner reduce or be an excuse not to do proper belt maintenance. That is not it's purpose. IMO

Agreed! It is a belt idler.

I'm really torn on this mod as my logic says if it was truly needed then BRP would have designed the spyder with it or they would changed the design after 6 years to include it. I don't doubt that it helps but wondering what it could hurt after years of use. I'm no mechanical engineer so this is just me thinking aloud...lol

I consider an "idler pulley" to be a fixed pulley as on a car engine, where it is located in between and usually lower than the adjacent pulleys to create more belt wrap, and also runs on the outside of the belt. Most cars these days have serpentine belts with a belt tensioner which is spring loaded. How about " vibration dampener". The tensioner will add a small amount to the overall static tension, for the much higher 2013 belt tension spec's I would recommend or prefer to see the 2013's set on the low side of the 900-1200N spec's, and all that I have checked have been set low, my ST was set at 880N.
