• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SMOOTH SPYDER BELT TENSIONER

How hard is it to put on a smooth spyder belt tensioner (mechanical skills slim to none?:dontknow:

Hello Ronbo, what are you putting it on? the 2013 RT's and ST's are easy once you remove some tupperware, there is a pre-existing hole in the frame, the bracket is now tapped and one 1/2" grade 8 bolt gets tightened. The next easiest is the 2008-20012 RS, no drilling here either, doable for the less mechanically inclined. The hardest is the 2010-2012 RT's which require drilling 2 holes through a bracket from underneath and bolted with two 3/8" grade 8 bolts. kind of a pain to drill from underneath, but the tensioners need to be thoroughly attached and made of steel, they are absorbing the vibration and will take a beating as they are working full time. All require slight trimming of the plastic belt guard. Some others may offer their views on the difficulty level and installation tips are always welcome. The more farkles you add the more mechanical skills you will develop, you will be a good mechanic, but broke.

Not bad..!!

I installed the tensioner on our RS and per instructions quite easy. As stated above will depend on model your asking means your willing to try. Jim has clear instructions but once you read them you can decide if you need help. Good luck..!!
If you weren't on the other coast I would gladly help..!!

2011RT

Drilling the two holes while under the bike is no picnic. They have to be in the correct place You will need a 6 inch drill bit minimum and some head room. I would have liked having smaller hands. Then to get it adjusted, well lets just say , i need to buy a motorcycle jack I guess because it still needs some tension ???????:opps:

Belt Tensioners

Sorry, my bike is a 2013 RT. I love it, but I'm just trying to make it smoother.

Thanks for taking the time to reply to me.
