• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Just saw a smooth spyder dual mode backrest at Smoothspyder.com. Has anyone installed this on their rs or st? Hundreds of dollars less than the one from Can Am and able to use for passenger or driver. Just got my Spyder St in August. Added Can Am saddle bags. Love it. 12 or more inches of snow for coming weekend in central Pa so will be in the garage for awhile. Thanks and everyone be safe.

That's been out for a few yrs now, so I'm sure you'll hear from someone on here. I hadn't heard anything bad from previous reports......try doing a search.

SMOOTHSPYDER BACKREST

I just installed the Smooth Spyder backrest on my F3-S. Easy install and works great. I ride mostly solo but now have a backrest for my wife when she rides.

Don't keep talking about the dreaded "White Fungus"...
I've been pretty dang happy, that Mother Nature has granted us an easy Winter! (So far!)

I've had one on my RS for at least a couple of years now.

  • My daughter likes it when she's on the back
  • I've found using it as a driver backrest good on long journeys (I do Iron Butt style runs). I have standard RS bars with no risers so lean back against it to take the pressure off my arms on the straights.
  • I'm an all year/weather rider and still looks in good condition after 2+ years.
  • I personally prefer the look of it to the stock back rest.
  • It was A LOT cheaper than the stock backrests in NZ, about a 3rd of the price. I'm assuming in the US the pricing is closer.

SmoothSpyder Back Rest

Bobbyhit, I installed the Smoothspyder on my 2013 ST ( on Smoothspyder galley on the his web page) my Spyder is the black ST with the sheepskin. I installed it over a year ago and it was a very easy install. After I loosened the back panels by the passenger handles. You will see there are two holes on each side what I did was to make slots out of those holes so in the future all you need to do slide the panels back. Jim shows you that in his video. I am very happy with backrest. It is very easy to adjust (it has permanent ratchets to all the places that require adjustment). The backrest is made with quality material and is holding very very well.
