• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

smartphone mount

Be careful with the x gripper. Shortly after I installed mine, I saw a video where the phone jiggled loose and blew right off. Yikes! I've been afraid to try it.

I have the X Grip Ram Mount mounted in the center of my handlebars and it grips my phone pretty tight. I have had it for nearly 3 years with no issues. I have used this same one with my 5s and now with my 6 plus all with great results. Perhaps the person who did the video got hold of a lemon....

I guess if you wanted to be really safe you could attach a safety line from the phone to the base of the mount. I am confident that I don't need it though...

A year and a half of potholes in Vagina Beach and no rocking loose here.

.

I will be replacing my ram x-grip with this one, http://www.techmounts.com/products/index.php?page_function=detail&product_id=317.

I saw saw it on Spyderpops F3 and a few other F3' during Bike Week. The phone is very secure with this one. I have used the X-mount without any problems but always worried if I hit a big bump would the phone come loose. This mount has a nice strong grip on the phone and it's not going anywhere.
I like that! How does it release?
Also, does it swivel randomly like the xgrip?

Thanks. You'd never think being that small that it would hold that well. I'm impressed! Probably will order one for each of my bikes. Just have to figure out how I want to do the 17mm Garmin gball side of it. Wish it was the Ram B size instead....
Thanks again for the info!

Smart Phone Mount for the ST

Snoopy:"What year and model is your bike?

I ask because your bike is all black but your handlebars are silver? Why silver on a black bike, my handlebars are black on a yellow bike. Just seems odd. :dontknow: "

Snoopy, my bike is a 2013 ST (basic, no frills) and that is the way the bike came. I just have not given a second thought about it.

Mine is a 2013 STS, Circuit Yellow w black wheels and trim.

I wonder why they did a silver handlebar on a black bike? :(

I plan on trying this (http://www.gpscity.com/ram-mount-snap-link-to-g-ball-short-ball-arm-rap-sba-rgu.html) since I currently have Ram mounts on my Spyder. It's 17mm on the small end and 3/4" on the large end.

Curious how it works out for you. That one end is a snap link. Dunno how compatible that is with the regular ball/socket stuff..??
