• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

SM5 clutch fluid

Has anyone changed the clutch fluid on their SM5??? I checked the fluid in Bruisesbaby's RTS Thursday and it has "mud" on the cylinder walls and cap. It is overdue for a change per the manual. I wouldn't mind changing it myself to save a few hundred bucks.

Let's see..!!

if we'er talking about the brake fluid in the master cylinder for the clutch, if you've never done it could be tricky. Best with a vacuum pump to pull the fluid through flushing the system. Then bleeding the system to get the pressure back. Not different to the brakes. Can be done just take your time and keep everything clean and dry. Brake fluid can damage other parts..

Pretty easy to flush it. Before I had the new slave cylinder installed my dealer did it a couple of times in about ten minutes while I waited, and I did it at every oil change. It helps to have two people...one to work the master cylinder, watch the fluid level, and refill (if they are careful), and one to work the bleeder. Protect the Spyder beneath the master cylinder with multiple layers of plastic!. Barake fluid is super corrosive!!! I never had much luck wit vacuum bleeding...although the dealer did it that way.

If your fluid dirties rapidly you may need slave cylinder replacement. If your clutch starts to be difficult to disengage, the slave cylinder is almost toast. Some slaves can simply have new O-rings and they will be fine. Look both parts over carefully, though, and repalce them if they show wear or scoring. Don't forget to use a brand new can of fluid...and discard any that is left when you finish.
