There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Slight but continual metalic sqeele while riding

From the rear of the bike I can hear a slight but distinct metalic squeek. It sounds like a moving part that needs oil.

The only way I can think it even trying to locate it is to put her up on bricks and attempt to turn the wheels.

ideas?

maybe rear axle bearing ????

Coincidentally, I experienced this yesterday.
Mine's an '08 SM5 I just purchased (a month ago) with 553 miles on it at the time. The brakes were squealing loudly from the first time I drove it, plus the power steering wasn't working. Got both those problems finally fixed yesterday (new DPS unit, and new brake pads all the way around).
But now there's a slight continuous squealing when I'm coasting slow through a curve, with no brakes applied whatsoever, foot not even on the pedal. Still, the sound sounds like brakes to me.
Hubs thinks maybe a bent rotor?
I'm going to try what Gary said above, next time I hear it, and touch the brake slightly to see if the sound changes.

Does your squeal happen when you are moving straight, or in a curve, or have you noticed?

Yank the Emergency Brake...

I had the same problem on mine. Try yanking the E brake up and see if that helps at least for a bit. If it does, take it in and have the brake adjusted.

It hasn't been doing it very much, but today (right in front of a whole bunch of bikers in a parking lot) it started squealing at a volume I'm sure they heard in the next zip code, when I wasn't even applying any brake at all....
and yes, touching the brake did change the sound. But didn't stop it. It's obviously the brakes.

so what's the cause/fix for that?

I removed the rear brakes pads and put anti-squeal goop (avail at auto parts stores) on the backs (the metal part) of them. Only have to remove two c-clips and two bolts to do this.

Another thread explains filing the edges of the brake pads themselves.

you may need to...

spray the parking brake mechanical parts with water resistant silicone lube. I had that squeal from the rear after using the parking brake until I used the lube. Exercise caution and don't get the lube on the disk or brake pads. A shop cloth will help with this.

I noticed prior to lubing the mechanism there was never a squeal when I did not use the parking brake. But when I used it the squeal would come back.

You also helped with the problem when you applied the paste to the back of the pads. That keeps the pads from vibrating metal to metal.

I just thought of something too...
I have the Supertrapp mufler. It shoves the exhaust out the edges/sides of the end of the baffle. So some blackish soot is on some parts of the e-brake cable and stuff.

Or i'm being extremely paranoid and dreaming up issues.

Supertrapp sells some 1/4 shields to prevent that.
