• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Sink marks in hood

Does anyone else have obvious sink marks in their plastic panels, specifically the hood/trunk, whatever its called. I hope the warranty will replace it. I have a 2013 STS SE5.

Interesting..!!

news to me but then again I am not sure what these sink holes are. Have seen some paint and molding problems and covered by brp. Pictures would help us what would help you is a good dealer looking into it...

I think I know what you mean, I had my Hood replaced because of (Ill call them) Ripples. BRP took care of it.

The photos show it clearly at the center but it extends outward also. It's the strengthening rib that is on the underside of the hood. The rib has to be there to give the part structure of course but they should have fixed the class "a" surface problem.

Sink marks

My first thought is What are you doing ryding your Roadster in the house!! :roflblack: :roflblack:

Looks like a molding problem. We used to see this in our plastic parts where I worked. We didn't use them, to me they should absolutely replace it.

I got a couple of those on my fenders I ignore them but if it was the hood that would be a whole different thing. They are hard to see on the fenders unless you are looking for them. It is all plastic and not always done correctly. Show it to the dealer and tell him you want a new unblemished hood.

Get it fixed.

At looking at your trunk lid, it looks like the trunk lid was bad before the paint was applied. It's a shame that that it left BRP left the factory looking like that and the dealer sold it like that. Just a very poor job of BRP's QC department. There could be something wrong with the material it was made with and it could crack or warp in the future. You paid a lot of money for you new Canam Spyder, let BRP fix it for free. That's IMHO.

I believe that is where another accessory goes. You cut out along those sink lines to make room for the ultimate farkle..... the kitchen sink. lol

I agree this needs to go to the dealer for immediate warranty coverage.

Sink marks are the result of a poorly designed mold or poor manufacturing. Since most don't seem to have this problem, it would appear to be a manufacturing problem. And, there is no such thing as "one". Somewhere there are more. It should never have left the factory like that and should be replaced under warranty.

I would say the process not mold design or we would be seeing alot of this problem. 21 years in manufacturing/assembly, I have seen this from time to time.

BRP responded to an email that I sent them and encouraged me to take it to the dealer. They even started a case number or documented my concerns in my file. I'm taking to the dealer tomorrow. I'll keep you all posted. Thanks for your inputs.
