SIDE VIEW MIRROR GLASS REPLACEMENT

We Well I've managed to break the drivers side view mirror, installing a 'behind the glass' turn signal. Of course BRP does not sell a replacement piece of glass. And so I am appealing to those who know or have had this happen to for information. I was told by a glass/mirror local business that this is a piece of "transparent convex" glass 1/8" thick. There is a web site that has exact fit replacement glass called mirrorglassplus.com. But they don't do motorcycles. So my frustration is rising, because I'm sure that I am not the only one who has broken a side mirror on a Spyder.... PLEASE HELP! :helpsmilie: thank you

Just an idea! I do realize what you said about the mirror being curved.

I broke the side mirror on my truck some time back. What I did was, go to the local glass shop and had them cut me a piece of Solar Cool / Solar Grey to fit. This is also known as one way mirror used in security observations rooms / windows.

The good side of this is, it darkened the night time bright lights shining in my eyes. It was a little dark for day time use, but not bad. you will have to get use to that depth perception difference of the curved glass.

Sorry to hear about your problem. I had the same issue and did a ton of searching and researching trying to find the replacement glass for my mirror. after a lot of frustation and no solution to my problem I ordered the mirror unit. It was a pricey mistake to break the mirror in the first place. When I removed the second mirror i used a little more heat and a lot more patience. Just take it slow and easy and it will come out in one piece. I used a guitar pick to begin to loosen it then a plastic putty knife to finish the job.

Thanks for the prompt replies. And Spyderfriendly, I agree with you, looks like I going to have to order the complete unit. I've got a call into an outfit in New York "internetglassnetwork.com" that has replacements for Harleys, and maybe since there is a market for us trying to see our turn signals, someone will make us a replacement piece?? We can only hope...

Would be nice if an enterprising vendor would sell mirror glass that fit the Spyder rear views, so we could buy the LEDs, mount them on the new mirrors, and pop out the old without worry! When I picked my Spyder up at the dealer last week, my wife followed me home . . . and asked why I rode 30 miles with my signal light on . . . I didn't know it was on, because, on a sunny day, I can't see that little green arrow flashing.

Can't speak to the install, but have used Muth mirrors on a GW and BMW very high quality mirrors.

Just received a set of these Muth Mirrors, but have not installed them yet. Opened and inspected the kit to check the quality. They look to be good quality, and the instructions are the same as the sequential units sold by others. Take your time, be patient, and it will work. I'm looking forward to the install sometime in the next few days.

Anybody use these? If so how hard was the install?

i have them on my bike, the install was pretty easy but i couldn't get the old mirrors off w/o breaking them so right now i have 14 years bad luck, but other than that i used a dremal to cut the plastic for the LED lights and i tapped the wires right inside the mirror housing for them to work.
