There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Should the 2015 Spyder have a bigger engine?

Dream on! I think most wanted more power on this model release. BRP is a company that will tell us what we want I guess.
For most of us though if they can really improve on service and reliability, that would be biggest improvement
.

Hip Hip HOORAY !!

My sentiments exactly...................................

The bold was added to emphasize my shared thoughts

Was advised that a larger engine would spell doom in the Euro market. Maybe Chris56 can confirm.

:yikes: no no - I know absolut nothing .. but everyone can look at the www.rotax.com webside to see what they have lying around here ..
personally : I hope that new ryders could handle a "stronger" engine (why ask for a bigger engine ?) - would like a larger fuel tank & lets see what the new brakes (sometimes much more urgent than an engine) & the new front could handle ?!? - why did they change also the new frame Lmaont showed us ....so I would ask : should the 2014 have a stronger engine

I wonder how BRP sales will be without a new Engine for this year? I think lower. I know that big changes don't come over night but this is the 6th year of production for the Spyder, Tired!

I think Spyder sales will be up this year. Matter of fact, I predict this will be the best year ever with these stipulations. Iran doesn't nuke someone and the middle east conflicts don't escalate into blowing up oil fields. Hmmm... a lot of possibities there.

Anyway, I see that you've been a member since 2007. The Spyder may seem tired to you but for most people, the Spyder is just now showing up on their radar. It's still a brand new, unknown quantity to many people.

With the suspension, aerodynamics and ergonomic improvements BRP has made I'd say there will be many customers who will like, what to them, is a new machine. Sales to current Spyder owners may not be as big as they would be with a more powerful engine. But I think that will be more than made up by new riders.

Plus what good is more power if you don't get improvements in these other areas first?

Otherwise you will get reviews like;

"I love the power but handling is weak, ergonomics has a lot to be desired", etc.

Besides, though the current powerplant is not ideal for our Spyders, it's still a great motor and does more than an adequate job.

And just think how many more Spyder owners there will be looking to buy again if a new motor is introduced in the next year or two!

I get up to highway speeds as quick as any of my riding buddies on their HD, BMW, Hondas, any more power and I would use all of it. I'm crazy enough now...do you really want me to have more power?

Ixnay on the owerpay for Ridemaster, we dont want him to leave the whole pack behind

REAL HORSEPOWER

1500 CC, Come-on Doc ....What are we wooooosie's.......Nothing less than 429 hemi with twin supercharger's and a Nitros option........This is what we ALL REALLY NEED ........IMHO :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack: Mike

For me, improved reliability is more important than more HP. For 2013, the improvements in suspension, brakes, frame, etc, is a leap forward. I'm ready to take the plunge. Now, if 2015 brings continued improvement in reliability and maybe a 1200-1300cc motor with a bigger gas tank and better range, I might be ready for a nice trade-in/upgrade. Timing is everything! :)

Yep!

The Spyder also needs a SIXTH GEAR!!!

Would be nice to have a lower 1st for trailer pulling, Let's face it, 35-40 mph or so in low gear is a little much. Drop 1st down and give me a 6th gear and I would be fine. Sure, more CC's would be great but I get there quick enough with what it has.

6th gear

I want it all a bigger engine but for the rt and it is a touring model i want a 6th gear. But figuring a 6th gear in the alloted transmission room may not be a possibility. With my 5 speed victory you can change to an overdrive pully that drops your rpm's by around 500.Its an RT ,i'm not concerned with speed ,i'm cruising and gas miliage.

Eric Buell is using a Rotex nowdays.. maybe they could just put THAT motor in.. Ride Master would enjoy it I'm certain

[SUP][/SUP]by 2015 the spyder should have a lot of things from bettrr engine to better mileage to more refined ride ride to better suspension, etc etc etc

:agree: No product ever seems to be released in it's fully-developed state. :gaah:
I think that they do that so that they can make incremental improvements to it over the lifespan of the design.
Or is my paranoia acting up again??

4-TEC 1200 CC 130 horse Rotex, Aready mounted in the snowmobile.

Yep, and the NA 4-tec 1500 cc 155 in the jetskis as well as 255hp/260hp supercharged and new for the euro market for this year 300hp supercharged variants of the same motor.....

These are all very small and compact inline 3 cylinder motors that have great reliability (especially in the non-boosted platforms) and have been around since 2003.
