• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Should the 2015 Spyder have a bigger engine?

You make it sound like you are blaming your car for having better mpg! But it's a point well made even so. One reason my car gives good milage is because it's a diesel, but I guess a conversion would be a step too far for Spyder lovers. :roflblack:

I guess my post was sparked by all the shock faces I get when I tell people the mpg rating. They look at me with eyes of disappointment and say "how does the average car do better than a bike?" It's been almost a dealbreaker to everyone who's interested. I've stopped answering the question, and just say "she does ok."

I guess it's the area I live in. People here love the bike, but fuel range is high priority here.

:roflblack: You must be talking to politicians. The cars my neighbors, family, and friends own sure don't average over 30. The politicians think they can just pass a law to make it better though. Can't wait..........not. I'll only give up my F-150 when they come and take it away.

You have slightly smaller gallons than we do. If I drive like I want to our 2.2 litre diesel Civic does 44 mpUKg. If I drive like my wife wants me to it returns 52 mpUKg. Honda, I believe, claim even more frugality is possible but it takes a woman with muscles and a whip to be in the passenger seat! :roflblack:

Yep, that's us...smaller gallons, bigger cars. :roflblack:

low gas, start pedaling

if the idea is to save on fuel (more MPGs), one always has the option to buy a bicycle: low carbon print and a great way to burn calories. :roflblack:
I want a biggggger engine in my Spyder.. hoe about a BMW power plant

I'd rather have another higher gear

BRP would have to completely redesign the current engine to accomplish this (unless you were willing to give up reverse).

If they are going to go to that much effort, why not build an engine more suited to the needs of the Spyder? That is certainly the way that I would go.

:agree:... However... One of the ways Ford and GM are working on the new fuel mileage requirements... http://news.yahoo.com/gm-ford-9-speed-10-speed-transmissions-report-234541779--finance.html so I can understand why folks can think this and or those not realizing the RPM's these Spyders like are not in the lugging end...

Plenty of power for me

I get up to highway speeds as quick as any of my riding buddies on their HD, BMW, Hondas, any more power and I would use all of it. I'm crazy enough now...do you really want me to have more power?

Looking forward to see the Spyder 5 Ambassadors vote. :read:

Personally, I don't need it any bigger, but I've only worked my way up from a 650 and a 750 (Hondas and Kaw's) to where I am, now. I've never been strapped to the back of a bigger engine, so I don't miss it or have any desire for more power.

Yet.

2013 Sales

I wonder how BRP sales will be without a new Engine for this year? I think lower. I know that big changes don't come over night but this is the 6th year of production for the Spyder, Tired!
