Towing 7,500 lb boat ?
 As has been said, horsepower is what you brag about, while torque is what you feel :thumbup:For me the bigger engine desire has nothing to do with more speed.
You make it sound like you are blaming your car for having better mpg! But it's a point well made even so. One reason my car gives good milage is because it's a diesel, but I guess a conversion would be a step too far for Spyder lovers. :roflblack:
I guess my post was sparked by all the shock faces I get when I tell people the mpg rating. They look at me with eyes of disappointment and say "how does the average car do better than a bike?" It's been almost a dealbreaker to everyone who's interested. I've stopped answering the question, and just say "she does ok."
I guess it's the area I live in. People here love the bike, but fuel range is high priority here.
The cars my neighbors, family, and friends own sure don't average over 30.
From your "cold, dead hands"?. I'll only give up my F-150 when they come and take it away.
Yep, that's us...smaller gallons, bigger cars. :roflblack:You have slightly smaller gallons than we do. If I drive like I want to our 2.2 litre diesel Civic does 44 mpUKg. If I drive like my wife wants me to it returns 52 mpUKg. Honda, I believe, claim even more frugality is possible but it takes a woman with muscles and a whip to be in the passenger seat! :roflblack:
I'd rather have another higher gear
:agree:... However... One of the ways Ford and GM are working on the new fuel mileage requirements... http://news.yahoo.com/gm-ford-9-speed-10-speed-transmissions-report-234541779--finance.html so I can understand why folks can think this and or those not realizing the RPM's these Spyders like are not in the lugging end...BRP would have to completely redesign the current engine to accomplish this (unless you were willing to give up reverse).
If they are going to go to that much effort, why not build an engine more suited to the needs of the Spyder? That is certainly the way that I would go.
Looking forward to see the Spyder 5 Ambassadors vote. :read:
...remember Durango 2012?I've never been strapped to the back of a bigger engine, so I don't miss it or have any desire for more power.
Yet.
