There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Should the 2015 Spyder have a bigger engine?

It appears that 87% of the Spyder riders that have answered this poll up until now feel that the Spyder is in need of a bigger engine. Maybe BRP needs to do a better job of listening. Dealerships all over the country are still full of left over 2012 models and their 2013 line up did not address the main request of the Spyder community. With the Yamaha Vmax at 1700cc and 180 hp with the same weight as the Spyder costing $20,000 and the Ducati Diavel is the same story. If BRP wants more people in their 20's and thirties to continue to buy the RS they need a bigger engine. And if they want hardcore tourers who ride full dressers and the Goldwing trikees to convert to Spyder, bigger engine.

that being said... I love my RSS sooooooo much and I have more fun on it than any motorcycle I have ever had and my wife loves it and I am very very happy with my Spyder.
I'm sure they listen by looking at their sales figures. If the Spyders are selling well, the engines are big enough for a lot of people. Poles and blogs are poor indicators of the feelings of the average buyer or even the average owner.

They have plenty of tuning wiggle room. No need for a larger engine. The RS already is quicker than most cruisers and cars. Continue to perfect the engine while tuning closer to the rotax in the Aprilia RSV4

For me... Technology capable folks like Can-Am know what it takes for the majority to be safe and have fun at the same time.

That said, look at what Ford has done. An EcoBoost V6 that is more powerful and gets better Gas mileage than the V8 it is replacing. Same can be said for the V6 the Fusions once had (We own a 2012 V6 SE) and learned the 2013's will no longer offer the V6 at all... (Source) Just the four... Similar situation.

All I am suggesting, no need to get a bigger engine for the majority. They have all kinds of options with the power-plant they have today. They just need to feel the need to do it for the majority. And because they are a world wide company. I do not know if the balance sheet would allow for a bigger power-plant or not when having to deal with so many variables and restrictions per Country/State...

I would like to see more torque than anything else... :doorag:

Don't feel the need for a bigger engine but a sixth gear forward woud be nice and fix the heat problem on feet and legs.

Every country has automobiles that are specific to that country. And some of them can not be sold in America or to other countries, so why not make what Americans want and leave the Europeans in the dust!

Dan
I think you have that backwards... Go to Germany where there is no speed limits on the Autobahns, and watch them blazing at 120 plus mph...or on the backroads doing 90.... They leave the Americans in the dust, and the vehicles over there are built to handle those speeds in curves, not just straight. Same model BMW or Mercedes in Europe handles much better than the US counterpart.

We spyder owners want more power as well as numerous other things, but we are not the only kids in the sandbox. BRP has just released a new side by side, revamped their entire atv line, and is keeping their snowmobile customers happy. Add to this their outboards ,go-carts, and racing programs. I believe they are also working on a couple of commercial vehicles. So, I guess they only have so much in the way of resources to keep all of us "kids" happy.
Given what they have going on, I think they did a good job of the 2013 lineup, even though all of our wants and desires were not there.
My first appraisal of the STS, was not very positive, but, after further investigation, it has some very nice features.:)

I agree polls and surveys can be misleading and the way you ask may get the answer you are looking for but may not be right, case in point years back Ford did a survey of there mini van owners and ask if they needed a rear sliding door on the driver side no one had seen one before so they said no dodge put one on the next year and kicked but with it

This is what I posted on another thread. They've just released this year the first atv to cross the 100 hp barrier. They have shaken up the off road world for 2013. This is a big year for BRP in the off road department. They'll get to us spyder guys later. Right now.....all eyes are on the beastly MAVERICK.

If you think you need a bigger engine, just learn how to program the 998. They haven't even come close to max'ing that engine out.:ohyea:

The pool is actually a very good indicator, non biased, fair and the projected time is 2015 (based on the BRP past releases rule "one year new model, next year cosmetic/color change").
This is a method of testing hypotheses about the mean of a small sample drawn (SL members, Spyder owners or not) from a normally distributed population (non SL members, Spyder owners or not) when the standard deviation is unknown.

 That sounded AWESOME ; but I don't know what it meant... :opps:

Translates to "Spyder need a bigger engine!"
I still disagree. Between my wife and I, riding last night, that was near 500 pounds, just in riders. Never was the Spyder lacking for power. Those that are feeling the engine lug are shifting way too soon.

Doc, I think that you missed a digit in there...
Arr,
I'm with you; the bike has enough power for me and the Missus. But most folks are awful hung up on speed...

+1 for the V4 from Honda or Aprilia. Putting a big inch HD motor would be like dropping a hamster wheel into a Ferrari.
