• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Should my Frunk lid pop up when released?

Just a quick guestion....when you release the frunk lid should it pop up? I have to hold the key in the unlock position & open the lid.......i have seen others that pop up when the key is turned......is there an adjustment that i need to make?

I had a 2011 RTS. The lid popped up. You may need to shim or bend something. Can't tell without seeing it. Take you time and pay attention to what it is doing. You'll figure it out.

I found a very small " coil spring " ( at McMaster-Carr ) that I mounted on a thin piece of alumin. sheet metal .... I put it under the large frunk hinge on my 14 RT ( they will work with any hinges of the same design ie. most RT's ) ..... it provides enough pressure to open the lid about 2 inches. ... When I was vendoring I sold dozens X's 3 .....Mike

Peggy's 2013 ST-S frunk lid just moves a skosh when the latch is released. Definitely doesn't "pop" up, but it does move.

If my latch mechanism is perfectly clean and lubed with a little white lithium grease it will unlock and sit there until I lift it. Otherwise, with my long arms I turn the key with one hand and lift the lid with the other. I thought of doing what Mike has done but riding has always been more important.

I had to lift the frunk lid on my 2018 RTL whilst I was holding the key. I don't know if it had a spring or not. The lid on my 2021 RT pops open just fine and it DOES have a spring.

Very important to keep that latch lubricated. Mine was very stiff when latching or unlatching prior to spraying some silicone lube on the latch.

There is some adjustment in the latch. The lid might not be closing tight enough to squash the seal around the frunk. When the latch is released the pressure of the seal will raise the lid. Mine doesn't really 'pop' up, but it does come up loose from the latch. Your challenge will be to find the 'sweet' spot for the latch so that it allows the lid to rise up but not hold it down so tight that the latch doesn't want to release. Too tight latch settings have caused release cables to go south, and replacing them ain't a 5 minute fix!

I have one of Blueknights springs. It works very well. I am sure you can get a similar spring that will work at Lowes. You could mount it near the hinge or near the latch depending on the type of spring. If you have an organizer attached to the underside of your hood, you will need a spring assist.
