• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Took my Spyder in for the software update and also asked them to check my parking brake becasue it would get stuck down. I had the parking break issue ever since my orginal dealer did the first service and I had such a bad experience that I wont go back there. So they did the software update and adjusted the parking brake. I went to pick it up and they charge me $28 for the parking break adjustment labor. Shouldn't BRP be picking up the tap for this, I am still under warranty?? If I knew I was gonna be charged I would have did it myself.

If it was the parking brake adjustment its not covered under the waranty and is up to the dealer. If it was the Parking brake Service Bulliten then BRP would have picked up the tab under the Waranty.

Well I have one of the first Spyders and the parking break would get stuck down which is what I was having adjusted so isn't that under the service bulletin???

The replacement of some parts would be under the sevice bullitin if your one of the first spyders. I'm not sure when they changed them at the factory but i know my 08 SE that i got in July of last year was under it. And they do have to adjust it after replacing the parts.

I didn't even have to ask; the mechanic who was servicing my Spyder noticed it was sticking on completing the test ride and just repaired it under warranty. I just love South Texas Suzuki!

Yeah it seems NJ doesnt have any great dealers, some better then others but most just want your cash. It's a shame I just bought a new DS450 ATV (another BRP product) and went to Staten Island to get it cause all NJ dealers suck.

For me, the simple fix for a stuck down parking brake is to spray some oil on the spring/key that notches into the plate that locks the brake. Makes it so easy, you can unlock the brake with 2 fingers.

Serviceability

Blackmans in Emmaus, PA. is awesome. They've done a lot of work for me and fixed my parking brake 3 times and I never got charged. I have an 08 model, I just got me Spyder back today, they had it for two days to check on somethings because of the DPS updates and they didn't charge me a dime. They always tell me they want to see their customers on the road and not in the shop. They are the best.

Wow..:yikes:
I guess there is a fine line between (Adjustment AKA wear and tear) u pay ..and Sticking (AKA SB Fix and covered under warrenty .) Either way sounds like penny wise and pound foolish for them ....

You should verify if they ever did the update on the parking brake plate. If not have it done. We have probably done every Spyder we sold at no charge to the customer (warranty). BRP did issue a service bulletin on this issue.

 You guys are great! I am very thankful I've got qualified people working on my Spyder when I bring it there.

I had the parking brake replaced under warrenty but they never adjusted it right and I was going to do it but never got around to it as I never use it. I then went to a different dealer to have chrome put on and software update Pioneermotorsports. When I went to pickup the bike he told me he noticed it wasn't right and fixed it..no charge.:2thumbs:

I asked them and said they knew of no such thing, makes me wonder if they even put the latest software patch in which is the reason I went there. Is there anyway to check with out buds???

Unfortunately no. When BUDS is connected it automatically starts the update for you (providing they have the updated version). We do all the reflashes while the customer waits. As far as the parking brake bulletin it's out there and should be done to every 2008 Spyder that qualifies.

Just this alone should make you run the other way and find another dealer. I would. All dealers who cares about their customers should at least be aware of the NEWEST SBs and updates. An old issue like this should be something EVERYONE in the shop knows about.
