• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Should I do or NOT do the canisterectomy to my 2008 Spyder with 350km on board?

So BRP said to do the mod with the purge hose and leave the canister on the bike. I have read on this forum it is better to do the canisterectomy, BUT I do not like the idea to leave the final hose in the back of the bike above the exhaust pipe. If I do it I will put the hose in front of the bike, above max fuel level and then go with it towards down someware.

So is better with the canister or without?

I routed the vent hose to the rear and have had zero issues. I have never had any liquid fuel come out of the end of the vent hose. I'd say hundreds have done it this way as well. Also without issues. Unless you've got fuel pouring out of the vent hose (which means something is very wrong), you will not have issues either. The alternative is to run the vent hose past the hot engine and put any venting fumes in front of you.

If you are getting fumes from your canister now. It means that there is raw, liquid fuel in there. Unless you need to have that canister in place to pass inspection (and to do that it probably needs to be functional as well). The better way to go is to just remove it.

I had an 08 and an 11 V-twin spyders….. Go to my Albums and see how I did it ( pics with explanation ) without re-moving the cannister , very easy and it remains functional, with No possibility of becoming contaminated ….. good luck … Mike :ohyea:
 
You don't say which model or year Spyder you have. Removing the canister on later models is usually not necessary.

Ron He has a 2008 GS, he is new and just got the bike his first Spyder.

All of you with 2008-2009 have done same thing? Did you changed the DPS? With or without software update?

I would highly doubt that BRP will warranty a 2008 DPS. But I would certainly try. I'd love to be wrong on this one.

You can change out the DPS yourself. But you'll need BUDS to re-set the Steering Angle Sensor.
