• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Shocks

Desert Spyder

What are all the options for shocks on the Spyder, other than stock? After 15K miles my stock shocks, which aren't that great from the start, should be replaced.

I recently put the RT shocks on mine and it made a HUGE difference!
And for around $300 it is a bargain.
Just had to re-adjust settings from old shocks
Im 170 and had the old shocks on 4 clicks now with RT shocks I am on 2 clicks and it is awesome!

Race Tech

Race Tech also makes a very nice set for the Spyder. They will set ya back a few clams though. More expensive than the Elkas I believe.

I will say though, if I didn't already have the Elkas I would be seriously considering the Race Techs.

and the best bang for the buck is 2010 RT shocks

You know Lamont, the more you say that the more my interest is peaked. I have to do something; I just can't deal with these stock RS shocks any longer.

Now, I am a somewhat larger guy. 6' 31/2" and 245 (yup, lost 2 pounds this week!) and it aint fat. So what do you think? Will the RT shocks be sufficient? I know you know I'm a hard charger so I will be interested to get your feedback. As always, thanks for your time. :D

I got them from Ken at evoluizone they cost about $2500 for the set of three.

Elka are off road guys and penske supplies Indy cars and roadracers no choice really
Pair it with ken's swaybar and it handles great
The kenda tires suck too
There are many options to replace with

Some Penske info...

When I pick up my new Spyder I plan on having aftermarket shocks installed before it leaves the dealer. Could you supply some contact info about the Penske shocks. I've been to the web site and I couldn't find anything. Would you also PM me the cost if you don't want to broadcast that. I'm trying to look at all the options out there. I talked to the Ohlins guys when I was down at the GP races but they don't have anything yet for the Spyder. What made you decide on the Penske's over the Elka's or any others?
Thanks, Dale

I exchanged emails with a Penske rep this morning and I learned the following (you will need to refer to their website to complete the picture): They currently have a 3-shock package for the RT (Caution - he responded to my specific question about RT shocks but did not refer to the RT in his response) that retails for $2250. Fronts are single adjustment model 8900 with no reservoir. The rear is the 8983 piggyback with the bridged reservoir. Seems pricey for single adjustment shocks in the front. They are working on a new package of “lower-end” shocks for the Spyder and expect them to retail for around $1850.
