• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. shock relocator question

I am thinking about getting the shock relocators,my question is will this make a difference with the stock shocks or should I consider elkas also

I'm not sure if they're designed to work with the stock shocks or not; somebody in here must know the answer...:dontknow:

There are many who have used the relocators with stock shocks. It's what I plan to do next, before I ever have to beg the Boss for Elkas. I think they just may work well enough to save me from begging. :roflblack:

I believe they are as it is the stock brackets that they fit onto, which accepts stock or Elkas? If I am not mistaken I have seen posts of people with stock shocks that installed them? I just emailed pitbull powersports about getting a set maybe someone who installed them will pipe in? I was wondering if they give you anymore front end clearance? I have Elkas, not to hijack this thread, but maybe someone who installed them can answer a few questions, so we will get answers with just one thread?:dontknow:;)

"i have elkas"

did you find a big improvement with the stage 1 I was trying to decide which to go with if I do it stage1, or 1r

They Elkas made an amazing difference, our roads are terrible here in Quebec and they made riding them much more enjoyable, plus gained about an 1" 1/2 - 2" clearance !:clap:i had them installed at SITA and took it for a ride and noticed the improvement instantly, no more bottoming out! Stage 1+ rebound gives you more adjustments.

Let's see..!!

they only change the angle and they work with any shock set up you are currently running. I would do it in stages. If you change it all at the same time you will not know what really did what or if you need more.. So far BajaRon sway bar has made a huge difference. Next will add the re-positioning blocks and so on if needed...

RE-LOCATORS

from personal experience .....My feeling is you can set your PRE-LOAD shock setting lower and still get the road hugging feeling of a higher setting WITHOUT THE HARSHNESS associated with a STIFFER shock................This is because the the " BRACKET " CHANGES the angle of the shock reletive to the suspension / frame....................This mimics what BR* did when they designed the 2013 frame..........................Hope this clears the AIR on this.....Mike

The shock relocaters simply make the shock (any shock) more effective. Put the relocaters on first. If that isn't enough then you may want to look at different shocks.

Yes I have a little more clearance with the stock shocks and relocators. I think it about 1/2 and inch or so higher on my RSS. I was also able to lower my shock settings for a more comfortable ride. The big plus is that wind gusts no longer push me around.

We did both----

If you can afford to do both I'd say go for it. We went with the shock relocation which raised the Spyder up and gave more ground clearence which we like and liked the improved stability. Add to that the Elkas and the Sway Bar--makes things even better in my opinion especially when riding 2-up and having a heavier load.

We ended up going with the Elka Stage 1 plus- on Len's recommendation for more fine tuning options in the units. After he showed us some big differences in stock shocks and Elkas we were sold.

Shake a stock shock sometime and listen to the fluid inside etc., Plus the top where it fastens to the Spyder- has o-rings which can eventually compress on you and so forth---Elkas are superior but also a premium in pricing.

So it really boils down to what you can afford and what your thinking is.

Some people on here and I agree too, suggest, doing things in stages and see what the results are for you and how you ride and so forth.

Keep your old shocks though cause you can always transfer the Elkas to the next thing down the road, and put the stocks back on and sell it then that way.

Anyways- good luck in your decisions. Think you will be fine any way you go about this.
:D

I first put on the RonBar. Good improvement. Set stock shocks at 5. Some improvement. Shock relocators. Good improvement. I'm not sure I will get new shocks or not, pretty satisfied with what I have.
